    Just saw a 991 on the road in Dubai !!! It was at night and most I could see were the tail lights which look great at night and very unique. These cars running already on the road are dealers cars right?

    EDIT: The article says it will retain the styling for two life cycles. This most likely means the car will be on the same platform for two years, as it was with the 996 platform.

    That is what you'd expect , similar to the 996/997 chassis era 

    first gen          991.1  M.Y 2012      991.2  mid cycle facelift M.Y.  2015 or 6      

    second gen  992.1 M.Y  2019      992.2 mid cycle facelift  M.Y. 2022 or 3

    Next  all new 911 (  99X.1  chassis)  in model year 2026 : How old will YOU be then ?

    Seems like just yesterday when the first  1999 M.Y. 996s were sold here in the US in March 1998 and we are on the

    " old board " - before RC broke away and started Rennteam-  lamenting the loss of the air cooled 911 .

    A cuple of interesting things in this interview with Achleitner:

    - the PDDC account for 4 seconds of the 13 seconds improvement over the 997 in the Nurburgring, so it does something, enough to merit its price on a 991? I guess that depends on what it does for the driving experience as well and not only paper numbers.

    - he comments on how the exhaust sound will sound better inside the cabin in the 991, which we know now what that is about  from what Christian said about the 991 having a conduct from the engine bay to the cabin that conveys the engine sound inside more without it being any louder on the outside.

    Some of you are so lucky to see the 991 in person already, I just got confirmation that the first cars won't be arriving till end of January and that would be my first time seeing the 991 in the flesh :(

    According to my knowledge, dealers don't have their launch cars yet. I could go into more details but to make it short: Dealers are not allowed to show off or drive these cars until the official launch date. This is a pretty serious thing.

    Currently, all 991 you can see on the street are Porsche owned pre-production cars. Yes, even outside Germany.

    Dealers (with launch date in December) will start to get cars in 2-3 weeks but they are not supposed (allowed) to show them.

    I've just had confirmation that the first UK customer cars will be delivered before the end of December. UK launch is the 17th December I believe.

    Looking forward to all your driving impressions. I will also make sure to test drive one in december.

    Yesterday I have put down my name at the dealer for the 991 GT3  ( in 2013 ? ) . A long way to go, and I can still change my mind .

    Real eye candy !  I REALLY like the look of the new Cayman: smaller in size than the 991 and with the recontouring of the rear window, rear quarters it reminds me of the older 911 classic style.  I owned a Boxster S prior to my 997 C4S and frankly miss the mid engined handling on tight two lane switchbacks , many of which we have here in Oregon.

    Indeed, very nice video. I think these guys got somehow lost, impressive number of different cars.

    Yes, the new Cayman will be less Boxster but also less 911 too (more compact), so it may please more customers than it did before. It is essential for it's success what kind of engine Porsche chooses to offer. I'm afraid that we won't see more than 350 horses at the start.

    Isn't it interesting how we haven't seen any new spy pictures of the upcoming Cayman and Boxster, even though they're getting closer to their own release dates? This makes me think that these releases are indeed controlled / orchestrated by the factory, which does not want anything to detract from the 991 launch at this time.

    Great video, nice to see so many cars.

    Clearly leaking the test-mules is a central part of Porsche marketing now though. They are not stupid enough to try to keep their cars under wraps by stopping a dozen of them in the middle of San Francisco!

    I never really liked the cayman, espacially when observing it from the side, i found the part behind the door too long and somewhat out of balance.

    The pics on the street of SF seem to show a car that's lmooking far more balanced, rounder, smaller than the 911, somewhat expressing the 911-feel of the old days... i'm really curious to see the real car. This could save the caymans live imo.

    This is a bit off topic, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

    Right now I'm doing a rendering for a new 928. The idea isn't for a retro styled car looking back to the 928, but more of a modern interpretation, i.e, a two door front engined car with no relation to the original 928.

    So far my idea is (compared to the Panamera), a shorter length/wheel base, a much lower front end, similar styling to the 991, more agressive air outlet on the side, larger wheels and tires, exxagerated proportions, a larger power bulge, higher front fenders, a big front splitter, wider and more curvaceous hips, and of course a bit of 918 influence.

    Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm open for them all.
