Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

This is ridiculous - This is my third replacement tyre in a year. Does anyone else find the Pilot Sport act as a magnet for metal?

Are the Pirellis less prone to punctures or is this just bad luck?

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

    1500 and nothing yet.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Close to 9K miles and no problems. You may be in an area with construction etc.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Repaired nail puncture in front and replaced a rear tire after two punctures were found in it. This is over 6 months.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Over 11,000 miles - no problem. Wearing well also.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

I have pirellis with 6000 miles, 1 puncture rear tire

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

    Just bad luck my friend.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Just had the offending tyre removed and replaced. There were two nails and 1 screw in it! I live in Westminster so I'm not exactly driving through construction sites - I'm now thinking this was deliberate..

Managed to get the tyre balanced and fitted for Pounds305 from Kwik Fit (rear). What price is everyone else paying these days? Let me guess - those of you in the States are paying A LOT LESS than this.. ($530)!

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

After 700 miles and a month and a half I got a large screw in my FR tire and had to replace it.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

almost 5000km... no problems (knock on wood!!)

I just had one replaced ( hit a pothole )
A new Michelin P costs $319.13 + $8.25 for valve ( mounted by dealer )here in the US .
(You need to speak with your government regarding taxes Lol )

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

I've had 2 punctures on my rears.

I think the combination of the PS2 being such a very soft tire compound and the sheer width of them makes them more susceptible to puncture.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

    137 MILES....

$490.00 for a right rear, they gave me a discount because the car was only 2 days old

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Repaired rear right tire @ 400 miles. Have not driven the car for 3 months due to Winter. Can't wait for Spring to arrive.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

7000 miles two new rear tires $490.00 each mounted. I replace I dont repair.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Admittedly on MXX3s....2 sets..40K miles, 3 punctures, one of which was a tail left over from a roofing job at a friends house (hidden in a gravel driveway)

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Got a nailed rear tyre at 6000ish. My first puncture in 90,000 miles of driving... Had to be an expensive one!

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

I wouldn't get a high performance tyre repaired - whatever the tread depth, and hence life, remaining. The peace of mind of having 4 completely sound tyres gripping the road fills me with much more confidence trhan the possibility of the catastrophic failure of a repair - irrespective of the assurances of any tyre shop. Pounds75,000 car damaged - or lost - for want of a Pounds350 tyre!

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

I have 4 punctures all my to 2 rear tires so far... I sure the same frustration with you Basalt. It kind of feel like this tires is attracting nails on road.... I also agree with Delbox on not repairing ultra high performance tires at all. It is dangerous! But at the price of the tire that is costing me right now... I have to debate with myself every time I need to change a almost new tire due to a small nail puncture.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Porsche advise replacement and will not repair these tyres on safety grounds.

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

Like everyone else, I always replace, not repair. Even if I wanted to repair however, I can't as the damn things always get punctured near the sides.

I'm now nervous driving the car after each tyre change..

Re: Are your M Pilot Sports prone to punctures?

One puncture in the rear - was a 3" rivet so i guess any tyre would be the same. However the Michelins do seem to easily collect stones within the solid rubber blocks - i've never known a tyre like them for collecting and holding stones within the rubber itself
