These pics are in the Exclusive Salon adjacent to the full display hall. It was a sanctuary from the frenzy outside, and a chance to really study and appreciate the car. I will be posting my overall impressions of the full presentation as I sort my pics out tonight, but for now I will add my impressions and pics to the information already so well posted by others regarding this Platinum Silver/Expresso 991 Carrera S.
1. The car was understated, tasteful, elegant, refined and gorgeous. The car has to be seen in reality, not pics, to have its design completeness appreciated. The rear design treatment is particularly attractive and successful. The wider front wheel stance is clearly obvious.
2. The Sport Design package (front apron and ducktail spoiler) is a fine addition to the car, without looking tacky or racy. The black painted Sport Techno 20 inch rims are fabulous.
3. The sunroof is not as successfully designed, but is not as bad as it looks in pics. It is high quality and generally follows the descending shape of the roof line. Reportedly it now opens outboard to provide more headroom inside.
4. The rear lettering is still a bit much, but can be ordered as follows: The bold squard Porsche lettering cannot be removed in any case, not even by a full lettering delete as can be ordered for example on a Cayenne. But it can be the only option, or the Carrera S can be removed and the 991 lettering will then move to the middle under the square lettering, or the 911 lettering can be removed with the Carrera S remaining under the square Porsche lettering.
5. The extendable rear spoiler, which will extend above the ducktail, is not yet available as an option, nor is deviating stitching. Stay tuned for availability sometime next year.
6. The full expresso interior is replete with Exclusive goodies, from brushed aluminum door and dash panels, to leather covered seat belt lock ins, to leather covered vent slats, etc. Abandon hope and funds all ye who enter here.
So much for this post...
Final pic tonight--got to get some sleep. More tomorrow.
This pic is of only half of press crowd at debut. The presentation was a bit sensational, but no one could say it was underfunded. Big dollars are coming from somewhere. This new Porsche stand was 2400 square meters, almost 1000 square meters bigger than Porsche's older Frankfurt stand. This was academy award stuff...

Thanks for all the pics.
I think if I was to order a new 991, I would just have Porsche on the back if I cannot have Carrera S. It sounds like the new model distinction is about appealing to a wider audience other than those who know the difference between a 964, 993, 996, 997.1 etc.. Having 911 on the back seems a bit naff to me.

pjd:
I think it was also in Frankfurt, along with the other cars from VW group (you can see a vw up and a bugatti).
Maybe they did 2 presentations
The first (silver) one was presented at Volkswagen Group´s presentation prior to the show, the second (blue) car was shown on Porsche´s own press conference.
