Thread about 2012 Lotus Exige S (rumour gossip, spypics & IAA footage)

The rumour mill is buzzing again. Take this with a grain of salt however . Apparently there "might" be an Exige V6 coming out in autumn this year.

This is a rumour that has been around for over one or two years. Although now a few people pretend to have heard this info from different reliable sources...I guess we will know for sure in a couple of months.

A V6 in the present shape Exige? That would be quite something, unless it's the (imo) characterless 3.5 V6 Toyota lump, but that seems too big an engine to fit inside the Exige anyway.

Not much detail has leaked yet. But I'm pretty sure the chassis subframe needs to be reinforced and modified, so the bodywork will also change slightly, wider track etc.

a few recent spyphotos of the testmule spotted in Belgium.

The final design will naturally look different, but these photos confirm the rumour : there will be a V6 Exige.

It is said to come with a supercharger as well.

Sounds interesting... I assume it would be the Evora S engine then if its a supercharged V6... If that is the case then it will have 50% more power than the current Exige S and would weight 50% less than the Evora S - would make for a very interesting proposition indeed!

The Evora weighs 3,000 pound and the Exige 2,000 pounds, so the Evora weighs 50% more than the Exige, but the Exige does not weigh 50% less than the Evora (that would be 1,500 pounds). Also, not sure the power figures are correct either (most recent Exige had 260hp and I don't think the Evora S has 390hp).

Fair enough Smiley Here in the US, we don't have the 220hp model anymore (just a road-going 260hp version which isn't the Cup), but I'm good with calling it 15-All Smiley

According to AMS, the Exige V6 shares the engine with the Evora and receives the supercharged version with 350 hp. Front and rear end feature a new styling as well.

It looks a little bit like the old Esprit in the back...

Still not convinced of that Toyota 3.5 in the back of an Exige, but I remain curious of the result, can't wait to read impressions!
