Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

Looks like something to test airflow: look at the little vanes under the front of the car and the one directing the air to the side of the wheelarch. Also, the air flowing around a wheel is very "dirty" (flow-wise), so closing up the gap between the body and the wheels does make sense imo.

EDIT: I only saw the first picture when I commented. Now I saw the others as well, and it looks like something more serious; flared fenders, different spoiler, different rear bumper... exciting developments!

For me it seems a GTS too but giving it a look ala 996 C4S which was a huge success.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

Could this be a hybrid or electrical version? Maybe the batteries take up more space and the car needs to be wider in the same manner that was reported for the 4-wheel steering and they have just re-used the turbo body for the mule.

Hi, just a strange idea but wouldn't it be cool if this was a kind of revival of the 911 ST.
The different front an rear wheels, the flared wheels arches and also the 50th Anniversary style engine lid grill would fit a new version of the ST  ;-)

But than again, these had the Fuchs wheels in front and the minilites at the back...

Can't imagine that they, like Joost said, are going to introduce the RS before the first GT3s are being delivered. I personally think it's at its earliest Autosalon Geneva, march 2014.

And there will be absolutely NO manual! Smiley That would make the GT3 faster than the GT3 RS on a track... No way that Porsche going to allow that. Manual is history in those cars people... Face it. Smiley It's 2013, not 1983 anymore. For every "purist" that refuses to drive a PDK, there are 3 new costumers that wanna buy the car with a PDK. That is what important from Porsche's point of view. They don't care about what purists think. Would you if it was your company??

Standing still is going backwards. That's not what you need to do as a company....

How could a manual RS possibly outperform the PDK GT3?

The RS should be in the 458 territory to make any sense and this makes the manual gearbox obsolete and redundant.

In addition to the plate behind the rear brake disk, note the aluminum cap on the engine cover.  Is this a plug-in hybrid undergoing testing? It also looks as if there will be aerodynamics tweaks to lower its drag coefficient too.

That's just a safety catch as commonly used to secure panels and hatches on racing cars.
