Some manufacturers - and Porsche is one - grant exclusivity.  The others get around it by using Ruff or 9FF cars, which are listed as seperate manufacturers, or leaving the badges off.

It's a pity for gamers who might prefer one game over another, but then forfeit their favourite cars.

I just wish I could get my son off all the games to focus on his math!

    That is the journalist... Smiley

To the article itself, hardly anything new in there. It was obviously only a passenger ride with Walter Röhrl so the article focussed on the inventions the 991 will feature and on the driving experience with Röhrl through Austria.

Noteworthy are the lack of understeer (according to Röhrl) due to better griplevel on the front axle and that 3rd gear is geared very long yet 7th geared very short (indeed, that´s what is written). Electric steering saves 0.1 litre of fuel per 100 km and weighst less yet no comments were made about its feel. Due to the lower weight compared to the 997 the car would feel more agile, noticably better than the 997.2 with 385 hp. Featured car had all performance options selected but, according to Porsche, even the base Carrera would have a convincing handling.

    That's Georg Karcher isn't it?

It sure is. Great motoring writer.

Georg Kacher may be as you describe him but he's a hell of a driver, car guy and writer and definitely someone to be reckoned with and respected, as are many of those who fit your description.

It's takes hard work and dedication to become the kind of old, fat, ugly man to whom people offer test drives in hot cars!!Smiley

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

The electric steering will also free up some HP - also mentioned is the weight savings - PCCB will make the car quicker yet.  Interesting they refer to a sailing mode for the PDK as part of the start stop system (which will have sticky buttons to disable in the US).  Brief mention was made of the hand brake missing.  I hate the concept of not having a hand brake in a sports car!!!  Hope the GT3 keeps it!  Also hope the new sunroof design cures the rattles for good, I doubt it.  At least it look like the sunroof will be a cost option in the US - yeah, we can skip it.

the test car was loaded - not certain I would want all that stuff although I have a 997 launch edition currently with all the bells etc.  I would like a pure base model with a manual!  All that electronic crap makes me feel like I can't own the car after the warranty runs out.  I have already suffered the power window glitches due to worn out drivers side latch that keeps the window from bumping when you close.  I can't imagine how you would fix active roll bar failures after warranty, jeeez!

Side note - Nav is now standard!  Not bad.

    ciao

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Kacher also said there were a few "mistakes":

    - the front  suspension was set a fraction to stiffly

    - brake and accelerator were not at the same height

    - Sport Plus, as previously, only makes sense on a racetrack

    - no middle position for ESP (so it allows some slip)

In this colour, especially with the silver window lining and with this interior it almost looks like a Panamera viewed from this angle. Smiley

IMO the dark blue / black window lining / dark interior looks much better.

Yep, no sunroof rattles if there's no sunroofSmiley  This will be the first 911 in decades without a standard sunroof in the US.

Well, thanks God it's an option and you even have to pay for it! But I guess many will tick that box... Smiley
