Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix
I wasn't able to make it personally due to illness and had to sell my tickets, however, a few of my friends were able to attend. I'll post more as they begin to dump their cameras.
They ran 3 series, Indy - Indy Lights - American LeMans. The ALMS race was on Saturday, the Indy and Indy Lights race was today.
The race weekend itself was a major success - which may just solidify the Mayor's re-election bid. Although a bit bumpy in some spots and some qualms about the Turn 5,6,7 complex being too tights and dangerous - the drivers enjoyed the course and would like to see it on the calendar next year. Commentators said the East Coast finally has an answer to Long Beach.
No major accidents, a surprise for a street course. As a matter of fact the worse accident happened during Sunday morning practice before the race when Tony Kanan had a brake failure and ran on top of Helio Castroneves
Major respect for Willy T Ribbs who at 56, got out there and mixed it up with the young talent in Indy Lights. He tried to get Derek Daly to come out and race too, but he politely declined.
I hope DC takes note of this and brings back the DC Grand Prix which was only held one year, 2001.
Tony's accident.
