I can actually tell you that this is the best high performance SUV test I ever saw.
My X5 M is the family commuter, so they actually addressed everything I'm interested in in this video.
I would have never bought a SUV without kids. Never. So the groceries and/or the baby seat(s) make a lot of sense.

Depends on the baby (...and the parents). 
My daughter was sleeping in her child support seat at age 2...when I was driving over 340 kph on the Autobahn with her. The car was so loud but she always fell asleep, it was pretty funny and my wife was surprised too.
Same with my son, as a baby, he was always laughing when I was doing donuts with him on the parking lots or on a deserted air field.
He has an electrical ATV for our garden and you should see the donuts and drifting he does with this puppy...at age 7. Amazing, I should really post some videos. He also drives a 45 hp real ATV during our holiday in Spain on private ground, it is amazing how good he is.
Yeah...I know...crazy parents. 
Btw: Our kids are just fine, wonderful kids, very friendly, very relaxed, not aggressive and they sleep no matter where you put them to sleep, apparently all those people who say that kids need peace and quiet when they are small, are wrong. We never cared and apparently our kids came out better of this than most kids we know.
Trust me...even my mother is surprised, she always had that "kids need to be treated like raw eggs" theory. She stopped nagging us about how we raise and educate the kids, which is something really impressive.

RC u cant be serious....well that a X5 no matter of M or not is a family car is rather obvious - that you can throw stuff in the trunk is also not impressive - and n to put a doll into a children seat n do a test makes a difference ? hmmmm.....
What I agree with you is that kids seem to like the "humming" of a car no matter how loud and to be frank it drives my wife also nuts that I fall asleep in a plane within 5 minutes - humming away I guess - and she has to watch all movies - so 2nd post I agree

The reviewers actually wanted to make a point by throwing stuff in the trunk and putting a doll into a child seat in the rear. Most (if not all) reviews of high performance SUVs are usually done on the track and very similar to sports cars. This time, the reviewers wanted to take a more down to earth approach because let's be honest...I would feel like an ass to move my X5 M on a track. It would be completely pathetic. Maybe for some track fun with some buddies but no way I would ever drive the X5 M during a serious track event (and yes, I know, some owners are doing exactly that but I wouldn't feel right, sorry).

i like the vid PJD, thanks. It confirms me; even that i don't need a vid to be certain of my choice; that the SUV i got is really good. Everytime i get it, it's a real pleasure. I'm not saying the other ones are not good but for me, i'm pleased with it and really i'm happy for my choice.

I also think that, like RC said, they want to make a point of view because it`s the first time that see a review with "super" suv`s but with an appouch to real use for this kind of cars.
I`m not a big fan of SUV but this two (Cayenne T and X5 M) are my exceptions (allready drove both).
Of course they aren´t the type of cars to take on a track, but on a daily use... my god, they are fenomenal in all kind of aspects (practicality, performance, security (4x4)...).
In off-road (with açpropriate tyres) the Cayenne T it`s a very good vehicle (more then the X5 M, because of the pneumatic suspension)

How good though? Range-/Landrover / Landcruiser good, or only "SUV good"?
I'm surprised there isn't more on this in the Cayenne section of the forum, unless it's far back where I haven't looked. I'd be really interested in getting views on how they stack up against the best in class real off-roaders, or whether that, although they are a great SUV against the Merc ML, BMW X5 etc, they are too much of an on-road compromise to be compared with the Landies at all. (Although the Range Rover is both...?)
As I have the Cayenne Diesel on order (for my wife) I was tempted to take up the offer from a bunch of my mates to join them on a trip along the Skeleton Coast in Namibia later this year. This requires going over the biggest sand dunes in the world ...with hill descent instead of low range. Is it do-able..?

I have driven the Cayenne off-road extensively and can tell you that it is very capable. You can see photos from my expeditions in my gallery here: www.rennteam.com/media/index.html
For serious off-roading I think the air-suspension is essential. With that the Cayenne can get some pretty impressive ground clearance. Wheel articulation is not as good as a Land Rover or Jeep but I have not found that to be too big of a deal. I think the ground clearance is the most important factor, in my experience. If you anticipate steep hill climbing the rear differential lock would be a good option to select. Here is a photo of me in Colorado last month. The guy in the ATV said he saw me coming down the trail and remarked to his wife "What the...that's a Cayenne coming up the trail!" As I got closer and he saw the dents on my rocker skidplate "Hmmm...I don't think this is his first time off-road."
