    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

Hugenot stock, Protestant French diaspora who adopted Afrikaans from their fellow Protestant Dutch emigres in the Cape. Wonderful history that went a bit pear-shaped in the mid 20th century but is now rid of that episode. I have many, many Afrikaans friends and they are wonderful people with a proud history. One bought a Porsche last week too!! I was in Maputo a couple of months back too - talking to a guy who was a racing driver in his youth at the LM track in it's heyday. Trophy case full of silverware - wonderful!

     Yes - Hugenot.

My father also raced down here back in the day. Always in a Porsche. Still holds the record for the Polana Hill Climb.

Next time you come down , let me know. I'm sure we could find a thing or two to talk about.1314815305450wine.gif

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

OK, here is something topical copy-and-pasted from the 918 thread.  I was a guest of Porsche last Friday at Weissach:

Then, we went off for hot-lap taxi rides (those that were willing Smiley ) at the Weissach test track.  The young lady queue-marshals were equipped with airline-style motion-sick bags at the ready for anyone feeling the need.  There were four GT3s available with the lead car a GT3 RS 4.0 in white driven by Romain Dumas.  I gamed the queue to get a ride in the 4.0.  What a hoot!  When I entered the passenger seat, Romain introduced himself and asked from where I had come.  I answered, "Cincinnati, Ohio".  He said; "Ohio ... like Mid-Ohio?"  I told him "Yes" and that it was my favorite track.  He replied; "Mine, too! ... I win there a lot!"  Well, that set the tone for a nice display of what the car could do.  It was very toss-able and seemed as though it was completely missing even a single bad habit.  He could dirt-track-style slide the car at about any slip angle that seemed amusing.  He did a hand-brake turn as a way to get rotated in a slow grinder of a corner and executed it so smoothly that it seemed normal to do in that car.  I can't wait to get mine on the track next Spring!

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

Even if it is only a marketing gimmick, those items make the purchase even more enjoyable. Do they come with every car?

Guess you are looking forward to the arrival date...

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

    think they do!

You are right small things make a difference...got a long way to go before I get delivered...might be the last one on the production run as my delivery is in January (went for PTS)

Lucky you! nice goodies! And yes, you are right, the gesture is always very much appreciated.

Mine's standard white and it's coming early December. I guess I'll be driving it next Spring just like Mike.

I drove one on the Bugatti track last July and the car unsurprisingly, feels fabulous. The torque impresses most of all, that engine just pulls from 3000 like a  work horse whereas the 3.6 L unit needs to rev past 5000 to start being exciting.

    Best of both world.

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

How nice! IMO it's not the value of the goodies that necessarily impresses me but rather it's the fact that it shows they cared enough about the little details Smiley

Whenever I do a PSDS course, the PSDS always gives a little gift at the end of the track day driving. It's a nice touch Smiley

Hi there! Is there anyone here with a scheduled delivery of 4.0 in September?

Mine will be delayed by 4 weeks without a clear reason - is my experience shared by some of you?

    Many thanks for your help!

    Wurlie

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

Mine was meant to arrive now, but has been delayed to end of the month.

There does seem to be some production delays for what ever reason.
