thanks for posting those vids. Stellar and gorgeous. This car is VERY easy on the eyes. I can't wait for leaked photos of the GT variants.

Worldcarfans.com is pretty bad when it comes to rumors and it may be written by people on constant hallucinogens so please don't think I've put any stock in this article, but I thought it was worth sharing even of only for the laugh.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Porsche: At the same time there are performance improvements in both models. The 911 Carrera S with PDK manages to accelerate from nought to 100 km/h (~ 62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. Pressing the Sport Plus button on the optional Sport Chrono package cuts that to 4.1 seconds.

4.1 seconds, is that with or without launch control ?? I don't see how just pressing the sport plus button can cut 0.2 seconds..

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

God, the 991 interior looked so nice.

After all these decades, the 911 finally have a interior that can match the car.

    The article is spot on!

That would be with LC , at least it is how I understand what '' pressing the sport button'' means .

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

The "traditional" 911 interior always impressed me for its spartan sense of purpose and focus. The five large analog gauges dominated the dash and the driver's attention, while secondary controls like the HVAC and radio were there along for the ride. The simplicity and focus of the interior gave it an understated but undeniable virility. Times and tastes change, but to me the interior of the 991, as upgraded as it may be, seems more suited to the next 928 in both style and temperment.  Another opinion, no more, no less.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

The carrera S sounds pretty nice in standard form (except the burbling which I hate). With  PSE I didn't notice any difference except that the burbling is much louder. And did I tell you I hate the burbling ? Those burbling sounds are just not suited for a car like this. In fact they are kind of lame, and remind me of this for some reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82L2BedOY_s

Anyway, look at the GT3 exhaust clips, do you hear any burbling ? Didn't think so.

The article states that the top will be half hard and half canvas. How is that spot on?

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

I am currently negociating purchasing a 991 C2S. I have done my spec and am awaiting a look at the car on the IAA on the 19th before giving it a final go. Production will be Jan 2012; delivery feb/march. However...

So far all my previous 911's were 4wd. On the one hand I am keen to be one of the first to get the 991, on the other hand should I wait to get the C4S? Most of the driving I do is Autobahn so not sure about AWD. Furthermore winters in Holland are not that severe; mountains non existing!

One of the main reasons to get an C4S in the past was the wider rear end. Since the 991 is now wider in the front than in the back this may not be that important anymore.

Will the 991 C4S have a wider rear? No mention of this so far on this forum.

    Thanks for letting me know.

It does ? On what planet ? Smiley

The new M5 sounds (almost) as bad as my X5 M, only the idle/slightly above idle exhaust sound has been improved.

No menacing V8 here I'm afraid. Smiley

The daylight running lights are in the same position as they are now and not integrated into the main headlights, so this is apparently a reflection.

I see no reason why you haven't bought a RWD 911 previously given the type of driving you do, the climate where you live etc.

If I recall correctly, the 991 C2S is the same width as the 997.2 C2S. I would expect the 991 C4 and C4S to be wider. Whether it is a difference of 44mm again, we shall see.

If I were in your shoes, the only reason IMO to get the wider body is cosmetic. But from an enjoyment standpoint, I find the RWD more enjoyable than the AWD. But you are used to the AWD and you may not like the RWD. Best to test drive it thoroughly before deciding whether to order now or wait.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

This won't be my most popular post, but there's something about that last picture that just reminds me of the Porsche in the Cars Pixar movie. The wider front end and the wider day lights has created a cartoonish look... More feminine cute than hardcore sex.

Cant believe I am typing this, but +2. Smiley

If the new buttons on the interior are anything like those on the new Cayennes, I would find them to be a bit (don't flame me... just my view)  unimaginative, and possessing a certain blackberry button feel to them which I did not like...

Initially I thought the 997 interior was too spartan, to be honest, but after living with it for a couple of years, I guess I am used to it, and dont feel it lacking, and in fact prefer the utilitarianism of it now.

100% agree with Dave C Smiley- The best bit of the 911 interior is the 5 analog gauges with the rev counter in the middle... Everything else is 'beilage', as they say here in Switzerland

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Simply put, the 991 is a stunning beauty. Can't wait to see one in the flesh.

While I don't have many qualms with the conventional PDK shifters, I still wish that Porsche would create a multifunction steering wheel that integrates the paddle shifters on the sport wheel. Now that'd be something. C'mon Porsche, surprise us.
