I think the 991 is 6cm wider than the 997, making it effectively as wide as a 997 Turbo, so imagine a wide bodied 991, sweeeeet!!!!
991 is 1808mm wide. SAME as on 997/997.2 Carrera/Carrera S models. In depth specs are available in PDF links that I posted few days ago.
Oops sorry.
I thought I read that the car was longer wider and lower.

Audi did not acquire Porsche. It was VAG.
From a corporate hierarchy that's true. But who owns >50% of VAG? The Porsche/Piech families.

ADias:Yeah... I'm the odd-man-out. But I do not care for fashion and there are certain tenets that are so well established that when thy stray away they lose value for me.
I still look forward to hearing your evaluation of the 991 driving dynamics when you have a real chance to put it to its paces on the roads you and I know. I am not interested to hear that it's better (I know it is), but rather interested to hear what we are missing.
Many on this forum seem offended to hear a contrarian view. Please don't! It's just my opinion, and only I care about it.
Don't get me wrong Antonio, I'm just throwing in my own views and arguments which in this case may be different from yours, but all in a friendly manner, I'm not offended in any way
I'll be sure to share my driving impressions of the 991 since I know you and I share very similar taste in driving dinamics and roads

Some time ago RC (and others) suggested that a 991 GTS may well be made available earlier in the new model range rather than at the end of it. Has anyone heard when this may be?
I'd probably wait for the 991.2 GTS, but would be grateful for any information available... many thanks.

Carlos: That comment was not directed towards you. Others have expressed annoyance about contrarian opinions though.

John H:
When will we get these in English....
When you drive Porsche it's good to understand some basic German, at least and some technical terms.
It's part of the experience.
Also you could be able read some German automobile publications like Sport Auto for example, which are very informative.

The car will be available december 3rd...in Germany (and a couple of other markets too but not too many as far as I heard).
The IAA is still around the corner.
So I guess you need to be a little bit more patient.

I think I read somewhere "PDCC" option for the new 991
Indeed! It could be yours for 2.700 Euro before tax or 3.390 Euro with -20mm (031).
On the S model only.
Nah, I'm gonna buy the Turbo, there it will be included.

I've had the use of a 997.2 turbo S from my dealer for the last two days. That car is insanely fast Stefan My deposit is down for a 991 turbo but I'll have a Carrera first then possibly a targa (if it comes before the launch of the turbo and has the original targa body style).

I think that the 991 CarrerS with the all the sport options fitted (S-PASM-20mm with aero aids, PDCC, PDK & E-diff, SC-Plus, DEM, PTV, Sport Design package, etc) will be ground breaking fast for 400HP. Even faster than a 435HP 997.2 GT3 IMO.
We will have to see...... but that would be fantastic. The only way I would not opt for the 991 GT3 is if the Carrera S with all the sports options has the same precision + front grip/handling/feeling/ efficiency as the GT3 .

Because the 997.2 Turbo/TurboS have the exhaust of an electric car, you notice speed since there is no other speed sensation the car provides. Other premium sport cars give you the whole nine yards.
--
I hope they have the Sport Exhaust option on the 991 turbo, because of this reason. Too bad they dropped that idea on the 997TT.
Now, judging from some of the spy photos of the 991TT, it looks like there are two different exhaust options, so maybe they will have the Sport Exhaust.

Alan, my wife (the turbo is her car) initial wanted a quieter exhaust. Now even she says the car lacks drama( referring to the exhaust). Inexcusable for a $160,000 car.

Would be interesting to know if the number of 997TT buyers who prefer a reduced exhaust note exceeds the number of buyers who prefer it louder. My gut feeling would be that many TT buyers like the understatement this car offers in combination with solid performance

On the black one,the rear spoiler looks much wider open instead of yellow........
If you order SPASM, the rear spoiler opens wider indeed + the front splitter comes in a different design (see page 45 of the "Katalog"). The brochure claims that with this spec the Carrera first time ever will produce downforce (not mentioned how much kg at which speed).
