"If you want new 991 as a object-not as a sportscar then buy a low option car."

Kreso, if the roads are bad and I use the car as a daily driver I need thicker rubber on my 911 so I am stuck with the standard Carrera. That has nothing to do with me treating the car as an object (status display).

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Hmm... Roads in Croatia are not perfect either(BUT, our new autobahns are excellent). I will also go for 991 Carrera-just with full drive dynamic options and 20". I will go for 991 Carrera S in spring 2012, also with all drive dynamics option. There are better cars for use as daily drivers, at least IMHO(and also daily driver can be relatively cheap car).

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

    Carrara:
I don't think so. They appear higher because the 991 is in front. And in reality, the 991 has a lower front end than the 997.

If you look carefully, the splitter lip is lower in front and the top of the fender is just slightly higher, or appears to be in this pic. But then look at the comparative vertical height of the the headlights. Quite a difference and from the front view it forces a change in the shape of fender.

Personally, I like the way it looks.

Excellent picture. I have to admit, from this angle the 997.2 looks the best!

Agreed! But when the 991.2 comes out and they correct those intakes and LEDs the 991 could easily be elevated to stunning.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

    KresoF1:

I will post this again since my last technical comments about 991 did not receive any comment...

If you want new 991 as a object-not as a sportscar then buy a low option car.

BUT, if you want true sportscar then following items are a MUST order:

SPASM code 030 for Carrera since it is not only featuring lower and stiffer suspension BUT also modified front spoiler lip and rear spoiler then can extended further then on cars without SPASM. SPASM models offer better aerodynamics-a fact.

PDCC/SPASM code 031 for Carrera S. Same as SPASM with active stabilisators.

PTV Plus code 221 for Carrera.

SC Package code 640 for both models since it features dynamic engine mount and Sport+ programm for PDK.

PSE code 176 for both models.

PDK code 250 plus steeringwheel with paddles code 840 for both models

    and you can think about

Servosteering Plus code 658 for both models and PCCBs code 450 for both models. Also new sportseats plus are better offer then new adaptive sportseats plus.

    Hi Kreso,

I agree with your comment to a certain extent. Indeed, if my money is no (or less of an) object, I would go for this equipment as well as it certainly takes the 991 to another level. However, being relatively young (27) and having bought my secondhand 997 Carrera at the age of 25, I am/was on a budget. I have bought my car not to show off, but for driving pleasure, being a car and porsche enthusiast for as long as I can remember. If I would be in the market for a 991 (which according to my wife I am most certainly not SmileySmileySmiley), I would certainly dare to consider a "base" 991 Carrera (with PSE this time - not making that mistake twice). I know there was no pun intended in your comment Smiley, but saying that such a car (or my 997) is not a sportscar hurts my inner car enthusiast...

    Best

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

The new Carrera S wheels look great, and the 991 looks even better in the real life pictures than it does the ones from Porsche!

Thanks again for your links and the above comments, Kreso. I agree that all of these options improve the handling of the car. I´d just be curious how authentic the car feels with all these electronic systems influencing the handling. Can your "sources" tell something about it already?

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

^^ Agreed. But I think all of the testing Porsche does, they will "feel" great, as Porsche claims the most important thing about there cars is the feel and that they don't feel artificial.

Or, to put it another way:  The higher trunk lid and fenders called for to enable fulfilment of new EU pedestrian protection legislation enable the headlights to be mounted higher.

You guys talking about prices is making me depressed. Our 991 Carrera will cost $229,900 and C2S will be $263,100 before on road costs which adds another $15k or so. Bear in mind one Aussie dollar is more than one US dollar! Sigh.

    Ouch. Smiley

SmileyI paid 391K Euro for my aqual blue C2S MkII in 2009 and the option i ordered is only the full leather interior. Here we got got 335% tax on top of the selling price + 7% VAT Smiley So, Way. You are still the lucky guy. But I always pay about 12 Euro per ticket for the speeding camera ticket. Smiley

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Honestly to me the new front end doesn't look like they altered it from the 997 to fit pedestrian regulation laws. Proportionally it looks very similar to the 997's. The headlights are actually mounted lower (look at the base), but they are steeper, therefore create a higher fender line. I don't think this is a regulation characteristic , but a design one.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Higher fender line will look nice from behind the wheel. For some reason, that is one of the first things I remember from being seated in a 911

I am looking more and more forward to Frankfurt now...

Smiley I bet when they're flying through the air they'll be thinking, hmmm, was that a 997 or a 991 that just hit me? Or maybe it was a 996? I guess I'll find out after I hit the ground!

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Kreso, better cars for daily driving do exist for sure but "rewarding" sport cars within this price, not.

The 911 teaches you something new each day and makes me come back for more. The "sport sedans" are boring and dangerous if you ask me because the driver is a little alienated in feedback while doing really high speeds.

And the "exotics" are harder to park anywhere anytime. Seriously I fail to see a competitor to the 911 package and I am not the "fan boy" type of person.

Perhaps some two seaters could fit my requirements but boy I do miss those rear seats of the 911 in my Z4...

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

"Higher fender line will look nice from behind the wheel."

Yes, they will. But again, the little devil inside of me is curious if the fenders being higher will not detach me more from the road... Or at least they will create that sensation.

I can't wait to test drive one...

There are some very interesting option . Porsche seems to have listen to the customers who wanted to make their Carrera more sporty.Smiley

Thanks for these detailed infos .

I would probably go for all the above options, expect PCCB and maybe servo steering ...if I go for the Carrera S. But at the moment I am leaning towards 991 GT3

Yeah I hope so! I also hope they take out the 959, 996.2, and 997.2. It would be cool if it was just the first MY base model of all 7 generations!
