New project Car for Ian perhaps!
Not sure if its a repost but is it a cheap car at the asking price?

FWIW, that's the starting price in an auction, not the asking price.
I'm surprised there were no bids on it.
Should have left it in Europe maybe, as I think there might have been more interest here for this model.
In view of its original condition, the owner should offer it to Ron Dennis for his collection as a "before" version of the ProCar racing version he built for BMW back in the 1970s.

Nick - As Fritz pointed out that wasn't the asking price, it was the starting price...
It was withdrawn from eBay, presumably because the seller got the price he was looking for elsewhere.

Reserve is reasonable for this collectible car and reserve will not be disclosed
Very likely the reason why it hasn't been sold in the auction.
I'd say the seller asked too much money and no, the 10000 are not the starting bid.

According to eBay, $10,000 was starting bid, meaning any bid below that would not be accepted by the "system", and there were 0 bids when the auction closed.

Guys,
Sorry to hijack this thread, but since we are on the subject of classic cars who can help me find out what certain cars are priced at?
I have a buddy who wants to sell a few classic cars but unsure of what price to ask,
1948 Lincoln Convertible
1965 Mercedes 230 SL Convertible
1963 Corvette Convertible
1967 Shelby Cobra
Thanks,
Moser

It would be virtually impossible for someone to give any meaningful opinions without seeing the cars, as their values will depend so much on condition. Another factor is that Beirut is probably not exactly a sellers' market for such cars.
Are there any specialist dealers locally who could advise?

Hey Fritz,
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately we don't have any experts here. However there are some collectors in Lebanon that would know their stuff, but those are the people he would want to sell to, so they would probably give him low prices. He inherited these cars from a family member and just wants to make sure he receives a fair price for them. I was doing some research online and for the corvette you can find similiar cars and prices varrying from 35k-55k USD depending on condition and if original parts are still on the car. The Lincoln, it seems is the prize here, as one was sold 2 years ago in the states for about 110k USD. I might be mistaken but it's all about finding the right client when it comes to these classics. Someone trying to complete a collection is willing to pay more than someone who isnt. Or you might find somone who had one of these growing up and still has feelings for these cars, and will pay more than the next guy. I've seen the cars from the outside and they are in good condition, I haven't been able to check them from underneath to check for rust, or start them, as the paper work is still being filled out to transfer the titles. I did take a few pics though, I dunno if they will help with appraisal.
The Corvette is a 62 not 63
And the Shelby is a GT350
Your buddy's best bet might be to check a web site like this one for similar cars and start pitching the prices based on what he finds:

The limited market in Lebanon might be a restriction but, on the other hand, it could work to his advantage if he finds someone locally who is aching to buy something like what he has and could avoid the hassle of sourcing abroad and importing.

Great cars for sale by your friend. I would have him consider this website too.. It'll get initial attention and serious interest will ship from your location im sure as they are seemingly beautiful classic cars in good condition.
