FERRARI FF - blyfooze.com review by Kiran Jay Haslam

    Hey Rennteamers,

I was really quite privileged to to be invited to drive the new FF in the alps... in snow!

It is a truly exceptional vehicle. I have heaps of info on it, and loads of pics, so I hope you can stop by and take a look!

    Kiran

p.s - as a true Porsche nutbar, all i can say is... Ferrari are really making amazing cars that will probably take them into a whole new level in terms of build and reliability!

Kiran that was an excellent review, you never disappoint with great writing and close consideration for the things that really matter. Oh and this car looks GORGEOUS in that dark blue !!

I agree on both accounts. For some reason I have a soft spot for dark blue on cars of a certain size such as the Ferrari FF. I do believe however that this colour is less appreciated at resale...

Kiran do you have hi res pics of the blue car?

Re: FERRARI FF - blyfooze.com review by Kiran Jay Haslam

    Enmanuel,

"Kiran do you have hi res pics of the blue car?"

Indeed I do... but so many I don't know where to start. All taken either by me or the same snapper who caught me behind the wheel. I'll start with the Ferrari snapper images... they are very rich. I'll post them up here...

I need to say something though. Reading blogs and what folks are saying. Colour is so subjective. For one thing, I know a few people who refuse to accept 'Rosso' just because it is the "isn't that the only colour for a ferrari" done to death line thing. Sort of like a crackin' band coming out with a great song... but then they go commercial with it and every donkey in town is humming it... you wanna move away from it... same goes for colours on supercars! So anyway, with that in mind, the ROSSO is magnificent. Second is the BLU. Because you see the lines of the car, and in a European environment, the colour stands out well. Here in the mid-east, we have so much particle suspension in the air, no scenery and washed out sky, that horrific colours seem... nice! I have a Rubystone Red 968 that is case in point! Seems great in Oman, but anywhere else and you'll need your sunglasses... at night! I just didn't dig grey/silver... and the green? FORGETABOUTIT. Horrendous! Please - note to all Rennteamers - avoid buying the FF in green, unless you have seen it in the steel first. (Aluminium?)

    So to the pics!

    Kiran,

thanks so much for this magnificent review and for sharing with us your first-hand experiences. Your above statement appears to be very interesting, is that the explanation of the outrageous colours and modifications on Middle East cars?

Excuse me if I missed that information but in which mountain region were the pictures taken?

Dark Blue suits all GT Ferrari, from 400i onwards.

I wouldn't pass the Silver Grey by for this model, though.

Ferdie, the location was Brunico. Sud Tirol. Where Austria meets Italy! It is a fantastic location, and worth visiting, even if you are not piloting a supercar! But if I could choose any car to do this area in - the FF is perfect. If not, a 911 4S would do nicely too!

Here is a map of the route that these images were taken on - so you can re-trace the journey if you want!

I guess we will never see eye to eye on this one. Battleship grey should not be offered on Ferraris IMO... Red and yellow only pls. Smiley

Come on, it's too large for yellow. Red? Some shades of Red suit the FF. Dark blue is also a classic Ferrari colour. Look how this classic  Daytona  with its GT-like body, looks good in Blue.

Particularly, this Blue in Kiran's pictures makes the FF look very aristocratic Smiley

    Kiran,

Thanks for making such a wonderful contribution to the debate on FF colors.. There were 2 grey/silver FF's at the launch. Do you have more location photographs of the darker grey known as Grigio FF which is similar to Grigio Ferro Metallic.. I believe you drove the lighter grey in an earlier post

Again a great review and awesome photos.

Re: FERRARI FF - blyfooze.com review by Kiran Jay Haslam

Fantastic review as always. i really appreciate your enthusiasm and excellent eye for detail coupled with great writing! The review was very enjoyable and the pictures are just stunning. BTW, i 100% agree that the dark blue is a hot color for the FF. I would opt for that color with a white interior in a heartbeat... good resale or not. Stunning! Job well done Ferrari
