    Wonderful Car

At sixty eight, I have owned at least sixteen Porsches since 1966.  Race cars, convertibles, turbos, Carreras, etc.  All of them fascinating and satisfying in their own ways.  But for overall utility, build quality, power, luxury and reliability, I give credit to my 2009 Cayenne Turbo S.  I have owned it for over two years, driven it daily for personal and family pleasure, taken long trips in Europe and the U.S., and it has functioned fabulously.  (My wife and kids adore the car as well, and that's no small matter!).

For one who was initially skeptical of Cayennes when they were introduced, I am an admiring convert.  No wonder this series is a great seller worldwide.  Expensive compared to other SUVs?  Sure.  But the everyday satisfaction is enormous, well worth the cost.

I like that and it's very true.

I agree but I doubt you would love it the same back when you were 25 Smiley

    Re: Wonderful Car

Agreed, great car. I love mine.

    Re: Wonderful Car

Agreed.  When  I was 25 (in 1967) I was driving my first Porsche--a new Irish Green/tan 912.  I was in love with it, polished it every day, and drove it proudly to my law school classes.

Life and Porsches have changed.  After that came wives, children, houses--or like Zorba the Greek said--"the full catastrophe".  Ain't it great?

    Re: Wonderful Car

Great to hear your enthusiasm for the C TTS! It's a great SUV from Porsche and a truly unique and special car, alas with daily use and comfort in true Porsche fashion

indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    Re: Wonderful Car

A friend who owns a  2005 Carrera S has the use of a Cayenne S Hybrid since 5-6 weeks now.

He told me he doesn't drive the 911 at all because the Cayenne is so good that it covers all his requirements completely! Bear in mind that he is a 35+ man, very good 911 driver  with lots of rallying and kart experience. What else can I say!

    Re: Wonderful Car

Being also the owner of an 09 C TTS, I agreed on the greatness of that car. This car gets more mileage than our 4 other cars combined, it is very comfortable and yet fun to drive if you wish so. and it is not dull in its Nordic gold robe, 21" rims and aggressive styling (seriously missing from the boring new ones).

    Re: Wonderful Car

I also hope to enjoy one as soon as possible, for me is the perfect vehicle, sporty yet spacious, able to cross a mountain and meet any sports circuit. Perfect

Porsche commercials tell me that the consumption of S is similar to the Turbo or even the latter spend less because it has to go less revolutionized. What is your opinion? It is worth spending more money and go for a Turbo S?
Is that I tried the Turbo 2011 and for me a good quantity meets my needs, but I know if I buy an S on my head will continue to haunt the turbo and until we get it I will not stop ... Turbo 450? 521 Turbo S? 500 Turbo 2007? the Turbo S, 2008, and I get a little price .... you tell me?

    Re: Wonderful Car

I don't think you should worry too much about the fuel consumption.  At the purchase prices we are talking about here, the difference in efficiency between a Turbo and a Turbo S is likely to be less than 1% of your total cost of ownership.

true. are only questions that I think we all come before purchasing awaited dream. I think every day I have more clear that a Turbo

but came to the question: TTS 521? TTS 550 hp 2009? 2011 turbo normal?

A real love story but unfortunately also proof that you got older. Smiley

I was going and I am still going through the same phase and it doesn't get better. Smiley

Truth is: I enjoy driving my X5 M a lot when I go to work or back from work. I also enjoy driving the car on longer trips with the family. The only thing I'm missing is the Porsche feel and smell, so I may get another Cayenne as a family car sooner or later. Since the anti-Cayenne atmosphere in Germany has practically died, the smaller look of the new Cayenne certainly has something to do with it, it is not a real problem for me anymore to be seen driving a Cayenne. Smiley I know this sounds sad that I even had to think about this but this is what we call "Neidgesellschaft".

My dream garage so far: A Cayenne Turbo S(the upcoming one Smiley), a 911 Cabriolet(mainly for the wife) and a GT3 RS 4.0 for me, a 997 Turbo S would do just fine too. Smiley Since I can't afford three expensive (sports)cars anymore, I will have to stick to one family car and one cabriolet and maybe one cheaper city car for various purposes like a Mini Countryman for example.

Difficult decisions, I wish money wouldn't be that important in these decisions.  Smiley Smiley

...now, buy current gen. Cayenne (2011/2012)... Smiley

You'll be pleasantly surprised. It doubles, triples, even more...joy vs prev. gen. Cayenne - Cayenne 2009 ...

This time PORSCHE AG did IT!
