    Official Specs McLaren

    0-300: approx. 28s (thus 200-300 on par with GT2RS)

Weight on par with GT2RS (10kg less)

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

There is still the rumor of 24.9 secs from McLaren the gearbox and the shorter ratio could be an adventage over the slightly stronger gt2 rs

The rumour is wrong. The number I stated above is the official number Smiley

P.S.: That's why I named the thread "Official Specs" SmileySmiley

So gentlemen, 28 sec surely is a good number. But it is a bit off the rumoured 24.9 sec. I wonder if the same goes for the rumoured 7:00 for the Nordschleife.

I guess the final outcome will be like some here, including me, have expected: MP4-12C will be a rather quick car, quicker than the 458 and about as quick as the GT2RS. But also not much quicker than the latter. So roll out the new 991 GT2, new Gallardo and 458 Scuderia version and we will see what will remain from that new British supercar. Smiley

What other new "official spec" can you tell us? Any idea when the first tests will be available?

Right now I even consider it possible that the McLaren is slower than the GT2RS on the track. I am really interested in the Supertest results Smiley

The other data I got is consistent with the infos known already. Nothing new other than the above, I am afraidSmiley

P.S.: The above data somehow seems to put the McLaren into perspective as Rossi states correctly

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

Are there any printed datas in pdf or maybe a scan from mclaren ?

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

While not as high as rumoured, the numbers are still very impressive. The car will still be seen as a contender to the GT2RS etc.

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

Are this datas from McLaren itself or just heard from an other person i think we have first to see some high speed test to make any conclusion

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

wow where did you get those numbers MKSGR?

Also when are you test driving it finally?

Source cannot be revealed, sorry Smiley

Test drive is planned as soon as the German dealers get their cars (most likely in about 4-6 weeks time) Smiley

but the mclaren most definitely is the easier car to drive at 8/10th and above.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

ok then my source from the factory said 27s but also confirmed that all official measurements should be equaled or bettered by the magazines as they were not measured with any kind of preparation from the factory. Ie they just did a few runs and recorded 100, 200 and 300 kms. Hence probably the better time that Harris got etc.

Only 1 way to find out; AMS supertest..

to be honest in my test drive the car felt faster than any stock porsche i ve tried but i guess the gearbox is very different and difficult to compare. My turbo goes to 300 in ~20 secs

0-300 in 20 secs... what step is in your car, must be 750-850 ps at least.

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

yes extensively ($$) modified including hand built engine and all suspension components, cooling etc (component blend from 2RS and cup etc). 740hp+ 950nm with vtgs, 1535kgs

    Very difficult question. Smiley

    That's how I see it:

MP4-12C definitely won't be quicker than your modded Porsche. Perhaps it will feel easier to drive, but it won't be quicker.

So what speaks for the Porsche is the stealth look, nobody will suspect that it is that quick. In the end it's "just" a 911. If this is what you want, keep the Porsche and possibly upgrade to the forthcoming 991 Turbo (+ mods of course).

What speaks for the McLaren is the bigger road presence, though not as "loud" as its Italian competitors this car will definitely attract more attention than the Porsche. If this is what you are looking for and if you like the looks of the McLaren, I would get it. If you think there are cars out there which are more beautiful, wait and get a new Gallardo or a 458 Scuderia. Smiley

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

Give McLaren credit. They have done a superlative job in producing a STREET car (the GT2RS is basically a track car) at an affordable price which spanks all the competition. They have set the bar much higher than we all thought possible.

Cool video, that is one very nice Turbo. If i were you i'd keep it simply because you obviously enjoy true performance, since you heavily modified your Turbo. The McLaren is an amazing machine as Nick states, specifically its' daily and comfort ability combined with track mix is really unmatched. But i think in your case you don't really want that mixture Smiley

Your Turbo is definitely faster and more fun on a track (I presume, very subjective)

indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

GT2rs 0-200kms accel by C&D is around 10.5.-10.8 secs?? What did AMS measured?

    Autobild got 9.4 secs

    Did AMS test GT2 RS?

Contender in pure speed maybe, but a far better car overall.

    Re: Official Specs McLaren

Hi Nick!  I give McLaren credit for a fine car, and look forward to driving one this summer.  But to describe it as a street car is a bit of a stretch, and to contrast it to the GT2Rs as basically a track car is a bit of a false contrast.  More accurately, IMHO, the McLaren is an  exotic supercar, barely suited for the street (poor rear view, low profile, etc.), just as is the GT2RS.  I guess one could argue that the McLaren has more "luxury" appointments, and a Ferrari Italia type silhouette, but we are really talking about design elements.  Both cars are extremely powerful exotics, able to be driven on the streets, but both far more suited for track use.

And no doubt, one will see them both on the streets of L.A., mostly at night in front of trendy hotels and restaurants, just as you now see Italias and Murcielagos...
