    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

My perfect car, no doubt... Nothing I'd want more in my garage than this. Smiley

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

I´m happy, this video made me usd 10.000 richier today Smiley.

A  friend of mine wich is kind of "I´m very smart, I know everything" made a bet with me as this car would come with PDK. First time he told me that, I laught so much that he wanted to make a bet of usd10.000. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn´t so we bet, and now I´m usd 10.000 richier Smiley

I´m going to keep the money for a week or so and then, give it back, just to see him suffer a bit Smiley Smiley.

As to the beast itself, I confess I don´t like the look, but in black and without the stickers it will look the "thing" SmileyThis must be the best and more balanced 911 for the track ever made, still, I would rather have the GT2 RS.

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

Your friend obviously either didn't know that the Meztger (correct spelling?) engine cannot be "married" to the PDK gearbox or he imagined they would bring the GT3 RS 4.0 out with the 9A1 engine.

As to the colour I've read that they will be in white.

What scared me a bit, is that there were rumors on the net  which stated the new GT3 RS 4.0 would come with PDK, and even RC mention this as a possibility, again rumors he had heard too, so there was some smoke in the air.

I think it´s a bad move to have white as the only color available, but Porsche had done it in the passed several times with limited editions models, so no surprise here.

I´m surprise Rennteam has not release yet the seps on this car  when there are already official videos on the net with the beast showing off. Smiley

This seems to be the final product:

      www.news.de/auto/855164801/die-weisse-jungfrau/1/

     The article claims the following:

    - 500hp

    - NBR lap time 7.27

    - 0-100kph in 3.9s

    - 0-200kph in 12s

    - "Weight" 1360kg (corresponding figure for GT2 RS: 1370kg)

    - Only available in white

    - German price 178k incl. 19% VAT (lower than expected)

"Building on the 911 GT3 RS, the weight has been reduced by another 22 lbs thanks to more lightweight components.

seems weight is stated as 22 lbs lighter than the RS.  Web also has 2998lbs / 1362kg curb weight and 3704lbs/1683 gross weight

    thought it would be lighter!!

Hey guys, I know I am rather late in posting this up, but if anyone wants to read the official blurb from Porsche AG, here it is:

In other news... I am about to post up a comprehensive review of the new Ferrari FF. It is a fabulous car, and one that will undoubtedly shame a lot of rivals. I'll post it up once it is in print.

...well, at the moment I do seem to like these stickers (and others, by the way...)...Smiley ...

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

    That black looks fantastic.

I totally agree about the ducktail too.

This may already be the case, but if Porsche haven't already, it seems very possible to have the RS wing removable in such a way that the remaining lid finishes off well as a ducktail.  I know the wing has to mount securely, but I think something could easily be worked out.

    Great posts!!

How about a sequential then ? The RSR has one so why doesn't this street version have one too ? Smiley  ( http://www.supercars.net/cars/4037.html)

Also, the engine on the RSR has a rev limit of 9400 rpm, whereas this only has 8250...ferrari can make a street car with similar redline, but porsche even on it's most track focused car can't achieve that ? Pretty dissapointing if you ask me. Oh, and the 3.8 engine from the GT3 RS sounds better !

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

A sequential box goes against the GT3 character IMO. The 911 has always been about driver pleasures. Yes there are faster gearboxes out there, but that is beside the point. This 4.0 has 125hp per liter and that is incredible. Revs are kept to provide a bullet proof reliability, showing again that the GT 911s are known for by now. Who cares about matching redline to the race counterpart.. 8250 is plenty.

The power peak is 8,250rpm for 4.0 (peak for 3.8 is only 7,900), but redline is the same for both (8,500rpm).

339 lbs of torque, come on porsche? Smiley

Please show me any car sold today that has more torque from a naturally aspirated motor of 4.0L or less.  85 Ft-Lbs per Litre is enormous.  When you have a motor that makes peak power at 8,250, you take advantage of torque multiplication through the low gearing.  Torque at the wheel is very different from torque at the engine.  Not sure how much you've investigated this topic, but you might want to look into it a bit more.

For example, the V8 in the M3 has 10% more displacement and makes 295 ft-lbs.
