REALZEUS:
The Italia's actual top speed has been clocked by numerous magazines (Quattroruote, Automobilismo, AMS) circa 330 km/h.
Did they really clock it or did they just repeat the official claim, which is 326 kph by the way?
At least in case of ams I tend to assume the latter.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
For the two italian magazines I am certain that they did clock the car, as they normally do. They state extremely accurate numbers to the point of one decimal. Automobilismo clocked it at 329.0 km/h and Quattroruote at 327.8 km/h. AMS on the other hand does not appear to have actually clocked the car's V Max.

Your nickname alone indicates bias. Moreover, we are not aware of the status of this particular specimen, nor the fuel and wind conditions, not to mention the real purpose of this "test". I find the results extremely awkward and none of the independet tests corroborate them. The german AMS magazine found that the 458 was more than 10s faster than a 997 PDK in the 0-300 km/h dash. Frankly, the results you are posting are preposterous!

Well...
AMS actually is the only magazine that measured 458 on real high speed track. In Issue 21/2010 they published high speed test of several supercars that was done at Nardo in south Italy. AMS spended 3 days there...
Results:
Ferrari 458 Italia 0-300km/h: 34.0s Max: 330.5km/h
Mercedes SLS AMG 0-300km/h: 35.7s Max: 323.1km/h
Porsche 997.2 GT2 RS 0-300km/h: 31.3s Max: 330.0km/h
Conclusion... GT2 RS is really el. limited to 330km/h, ALL 458 and SLS AMG that left their respected factories are faster in top speed then official claim(326km/h for 458 and 317km/h for SLS).
458 is clearly capable of top speed over 326km/h-I spoke direclty with one owner. SLS also can go 320km/h without any problems-personal experience here.
well, no car magazines test real v max. they calculate it with math formulas thanks to all data achieved .
tel me where they can test it???????? if they don't go to nardo'???????
autobahn???? maybe german magazines??? who else have a track with more than 3 km straight line???? i guess nobody, years ago before this EU rules , in italy they used autostrada to do this, and some motorbike magazine still do ( illegaly)

The italians have Nardo. But they also test in empty airstrips and of course on the autostradas...

I know Nino for quite sometime and above all, he's a very passionate sports car lover. One of his first sports car was a RS4 which he made engine mods, car was making +500hp and it was a blast. Then came a 997S, but power wasn't enought so he change it for beautiful black 997GT3 RS. He participated on many Porsche events all including extensive time on circuit. Then came the 430, and ever since he bought this car I felt he was not satisfy with it. All he said is that it had a great sound and it kept ALOT of attention but... Then came the 997TT PDK and he was tottaly blown away by difference in quality power and ride, I wont even mention here the words he chose to compare the 430 to 997TT !! So saying his opinion he biased revels you really don't know who you are talking about. Contrary to many posters here who give their opinion based in a 20minutes ride in a sports car or from what they read in a magazine, Nino has real world experience with all this sports cars, he owned them all for years and all of them were bought brand new. I think it's very clear who has the biased opinion here, which seems to be based more from Italian magazine reports than real world drivng experience ;-) ....sorry couldn't resist :-) J.Seven
Hi, my friend J. Neves!!!
my opinion is based in my expirience of onwer of sports cars, NOT MAGAZINES or TV SHOWS, then i like Ferraris, but not for PERFORMANCE CARs, Ferrari is the best ever SHOW CAR!!!
for performance i like and respect PORSCHES, my Turbo PDK with ECU TUNED 550hp is a fun car for to do side by side with others sports car, also vs 458 ITALIA!!!
see here, we have a big line i went +300km/h, start 80/100km/h to +300km/h

That is a strange comment.
I did not read any personal attacks against you. If anything it was directed from you to him.
Look it is understandable you want to defend Ferrari. It is a fine car. But sometimes the indefensible cannot be defended. I happen to agree with the comments that Ferrari is more about style and passion. However, it has never been at the top of the food chain when it comes to performance and quality.
I know of what I write.
Happy Easter to begin with.
First of all, I am not a Ferrari employee, thus I have no need to defend the company since it is not paying my salary.
Granted this is a P forum. But last time I checked, people had the right to their own opinions.
But when someone states this:
"Contrary to many posters here who give their opinion based in a 20minutes ride in a sports car or from what they read in a magazine, Nino has real world experience with all this sports cars, he owned them all for years and all of them were bought brand new. and a certified lawyer does not consider it as a personal attack, it really makes me doubt the efficacy of the penal system altogether...
Nontheless, I am willing to answer each and any "accusation" bestowed upon me.
The fact that J.Seven (whomever he may be) has personal intimate knowledge of the aforementioned poster is no guarantee of driving standards proficiency or non allegiance.
This is supposed to be a forum (ancient roman public space for the airing of opinions) for all people that may have something to state.
I personally have the audacity to state that such unsubstantiated claims are fishy at best. Feel free to counter my position.
Have a nice day.

REALZEUS:
I just responded to the last post nberry. It was not meant as a response to that poster but a general remark to whomever it may concern.
REALZEUS you´re a bit lost in this thread
Anyway I also think the 458 can reach 330Kph, maybe the car in this video wasn´t deliver the full power, or maybe the wind was in oposite direction, we don´t know.
I can understand your passion for Ferraris, I too have one as I have for Lambos and Porsche too, but got to say Lambos and Ferrari are in another exotic scale Porsche can´t reach
