Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

    J.Seven:
For me the solution will be in the future to have a Porsche as a DD (SUV / Sedan) and if we want serious sports car with soul and exclusivity, move to Lambo or Ferrari, which at least for the next 5 to 7 years will remain exclusive...I hope Smiley

If you want to really enjoy your sports car don't buy a very exclusive/expensive one. Owners of Ferrari and Lamborghini don't drive their cars enough to enjoy them, for various reasons, both financial, social and practical. These cars are more about ownership than driving. There are of course the lucky multi-car owners, who have everything in their garage but I refer to more "normal" owners here.

OTOH a Porsche sports car, although with less prestige, is all about living with, driving and enjoying day in day out. This aspect counts a lot and is valued by thousands of sportscar lovers around the world, more than the exclusivity and status of a more limited brand. And this has been the reason behind the success of the brand.

I don't think they will get into these markets. But Porsche could introduce you to a friendly VW dealer. The beauty of cross-selling Smiley

Porsche Wankun TDI, sounds great, doesn't it?

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

If PAG wants more profits, they must sell more cars... WHY? Porsche wants to reach 200,000 units... WHY?

I just don't see this being smart at all. If the VW group wants to sell an overpriced sedan and there are people willing to pay towards 150k for an Audi already, why not use the Audi name. This is very disappointing to me. This whole internal brand watering down is absurd... why is VW building upper levels into the Audi range? There seems to be so much overlapping with the same products being offered with different badges and therefore different prices... Does not make sense.

Where will this end? I imagine a 2 seater in 2020. Entry model will be called VW, mid range a Audi and the upper sporty one a Porsche. It will be the same product

The Panamera is a big car, especially for Europe. It makes sense to have a smaller sedan, but it better be a good performer...

Bi-turbo V6...up to 400 hp shouldn't be a problem. If the weight is right...

Good performer? Yes. Very good performer? I doubt it. According to preliminary rumors, the top model might be priced slightly above Panamera V6 price range.

Becareful!  In the early 90s Porsche codeveloped a Family Van with Nissan.!Smiley Luckily Porsche ran out of money to build it for themselves.Smiley

Porsche 3 and 5 series competitors, and they will make them, will be a huge financial success. Like it the idea of them or not, they will be the best handling cars in that segment.

The automobile world has gone insane. Crappy Dodges rebadged as Lancias. Jeeps with Maserati V8s, maybe Ferrari will build 4door tpick up trucks also!.

Porsches best selling vehicle is a small, expensive truck that is really not needed by anyone. So anything is possible these days!

I will sign up for a Porsche minivan, 500+hp, awd, seats 8 comfortably and with their luggage, and it should also do autocrosses like a sportscar :)

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

Just went car shopping, to be exact family sedan shopping.  I checked both S4 and 335, 335 is the better driver but S4 has better room at the back.  I have only 1 kid, a boy who is entering his teen years.  The Audi S4 is the perfect car, size-wise.  Too bad I cannot afford it unless I give up my summer Porsche.  Now if Porsche builds a sedan of this size, it will be perfect.

Interesting sketches, I'm growing to this idea, but still it will be strange to see in a P showroom. As long as it DOMINATES AMG and M

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

I'm sorry but I really, really, really, really hope that the car looks absolutely NOTHING like those sketches. Unfortunately, however, I think I will be very disappointed. Oh well: I'm getting used to it.

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

Thanks for posting these articles Ron!
They're writing about porsche building the Pajun, then that the name is just a working title, not definite. Then something pretty interesting, namely that porsche is going to build the platform itself, and bentley/lambo/audi possibly having advantages from that. They also say that the pajun won't use the audi platform, because the audi platform is designed to be extremely flexible (in application, not rigidity); should be able to cater for the A4, A9, Touareg, Cayenne, Q5, Q7. However, it doesn't cater for the Porsche DNA; RWD. Then they name the models that should be able to profit from the Porsche platform (the list of porsches, bentleys and lamborghinis)

The list of requirements for the platform:
-Lightweight by using a n innovative mix of materials
-Optimized weight distribution through "front-mid-engine" and "transaxle- way of building"?
-High flexibility in dimensions and applications
-Higher than normal level of synergy in sourcing of materials etc.
    -Should easily fit 4wd
-Should cater for interchangeable electronics, engines, etc.

    About the Pajun:

-3.0 and 3.6 litre engines first.
    -400 - 550 bhp
The rest sounds like utter speculation, and could have been made up by just anyone ;P

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

I like the blue car as in Autobild above. From that drawing it looks like a better proportioned and smaller (I hate large cars) version of the Panamera with improved side rear design.

Half as expensive as a Panamera too

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

There is a lot of nonsense in that AutoBILD article, thats for sure.

Right now, I heard only that Porsche plans a smaller sedan, priced and sized below the Panamera. The project apparently has already started but I didn't hear that it got the green light for production. So far, everything AutoBILD wrote is pure speculation on what might be logical or whatever, I don't have a clue. I'm not saying I know more or better than them but according to our sources, the article is quite inaccurate.

Forget about the sketches, there is no final design available, so all these sketches are pure fantasy.

Pajun with awd + 550hp twin turbo v8 that has 5 seats, somewhere slightly smaller than a curent M5. yummy.

No V8...  by the time it comes out you're lucky if you can get an in-line 4

Where is the fun in that? Unless the 4 bangers is like that Impreza WRC one, 300+ hp, but the car has to be under 3000lb to be any fun.

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

A V8 will be too heavy.  I would prefer something with HP in the S4/M3 class but lighter, more agile, more sports car handling.

I actually think a V6 3.5L is plenty... No wonder I love the 911 engine so much.

One day i will build my 3.5L BMW e30. Such a fun car to drive.

Agree with you on all 3 statements.  3.5L V6 is plenty, love the 911 engine, e30 is a fun to drive car.

Remember once read that Prof. Ferdinand Porsche said he built a Porsche car because no one built what he wanted.  Too bad, I did not have his engineering skill to do the same.  I think 99.9% of us in renteam don't neither, so we all hope Porsche will build one for us because we know it will be done right.

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

Pajun... Cajun... even though these names has nothing to do with the final product they're so hideous! When I read it in magazines it really spoils the enjoyment of reading about a potential new model in the Porsche line up. Get rid of those nasty names asap and start using numbers instead ... I've never been a fan of the Cayenne and Panamera name either, but now we're getting close to the limit. Stick with the Turbo, Turbo S, GT, GTS, etc but get rid of the prefixes and call them something more descrete...

I like the idea of a smaller cayenne and panamera though and would actually be a potential customer since I think both the Cayenne and Panamera are too big.

Re: Porsche Pajun - med size family sedan

agree with you. it should have been all about numbers. i.e use the internal codes as model names. but i guess that is too technical for the masses. hence the names.

You associate more with a name than with a number. I guess it's psychology.
