    Stablemate for my GT3

    Decided to change my daily drive as the old Mondeo was getting a bit long in the tooth, and got a nice tax rebate (for a change !).

    Could not resist getting the matching number plates and colour !

    Went for the 170 PS Diesel as it is my daily drive. Nice to get just under 40MPG on the commute to work rather than the 14MPG that the GT3 gives !!!

    Althought the car is a lot smaller, it feels like sitting in a Cayenne again ! The drive of the Tiguan is great, but the electronic park brake and brake assist takes some getting use to. Also the steering seems a bit detached and light (but then i am comparing it against the car with the best steering feel in the world !!!)

    Car goes to get some Paintshield protective film applied tomorrow. I might go for a full cover on this car as it will go to supermarket car parks !

    Congratulations, one company, one colour, similiar license plate! Did you get the DSG or manual model? I tried one of the early-production models and weren´t impressed with the controls. Trying another one most recently makes me believe that they have improved again and provide the known Volkswagen feeling.

    Good choice Chris - they look great together, especially with the plates..

    And it's amazing how many white cars I'm seeing since I got mine...

    The VW is a great daily, how's the diesel power so far? is 170hp enough?

    indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    I went for the manual model in the end...

    Well bolted together car and nice daily drive. 

    One ting i have noticed from getting this car is just how good the PCM 3 is in the Porsche. Although the VW does have DAB Radio, the iPOD interface on the O/S is crap compared to Porsche. It is more like a DoS file structure ! I also find the touch screen less responsive than the Porsche system.

    The park assist parallel parking aid is just spooky !!

    Takes a bit of getting use to ! The only Diesels i have ever driven have been rental vans in the past...

    Once the car gets upto about 2000RPM things start to happen (I guess it is the Turbo spinning up ?)

    It's a very sensible choice though. And the fuel you save you can burn in the GT3
