No, I don't think that is likely.
It's not impossible, but not very likely.
Much will depend on the evolution of the ACO rules for sportscar racing.
This could be VAG preparing the way into F1 for Audi in case the ACO regulates away their diesel advantage that they have so cleverly exploited for so many years.

I have just read in a Gordon Kirby article that it is likely that VW will be joining F1 (when the little turbo engines come in 2013) via it's Porsche Brand. A sad, sad day for we sportscar racing lovers.
The word is that Honda, Toyota and Hyundai will also be joining.

True, Lotus will probably have 4 shitty teams by then
I do think the VW Group is likely going to go into F1 with one of their names... That by itself is interesting. Maybe Lamborghini F1 is high end and special... has little to do with road car tech..
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

If VW were to enter F1, I would see them doing it under the Audi banner since Audi is the mass market flagship brand.
Lamborghini would really have no sales increase from being co-marketed with its associating in F1. Although it would be nice to see a F vs. L rivalry.
I think they would leave Porsche out of F1 and save that marque for GT and Club racing.

This is coming from a reputable motor-sport journalist.
Although (as you all know) I am adamantly against Porsche going into F1, the truth is that the ACO has continued to allow diesel engines to flourish (although they seem to have been cutback to relatively "civilized" levels this year - but lets wait for Le Mans before coming to any definite conclusion). Audi is interested in continuing to market their diesel products, so F1 does not make as much sense to them as Endurance racing.
Remember that F1 (from 2013) will be all about small(ish) turbo engines, and as you all know, Turbo's are Porsches' playground.
