I think Porsche should actually use the name Cayenne but add something to it, like a letter or whatever. It would help the entry level(!) "Cajun" to sell better.

The name selection is fascinating, and could well be based on the market niche for the car. You can bet Porsche knows what the precise characteristics of this market worldwide--in my section of the U.S. I see many young moms driving small BMW and similar SUVs, so based on this as an example, the new name cannot be too aggressive or masculine. (I know I am setting myself up for lots of new joke names from Board members--Soccerette, or KiddieRX, Cayenneyuppie, etc., so post away). But the point is that the name for the new car will have to be appealing to the researched segment.

GM Austin:
Soccer moms don't seem to have a problem with "Yukon" or "Expedition". I think young moms are ok with masculine names. It may even enhance the desirability if it implies something about protection or safety.
Don't say it like that to a marketing guy.
He might want to go with "Condom", 'cos it also fits in with the Cayenne, Carrera, Cayman theme.
