    IMHO it looks like Red Bull is again the fastest car with Ferrari close behind. The rest look like they are nowhere. But Vettel is staying tight-lipped.

    Mercedes seems to have got its act together at last - they may not be the fastest in Melbourne - but they at least have every reason to be optimistic - Schumi and Rosberg will have a competitive car it seems ...

    He's calculating that the best cars of the past 2 seasons have been Red Bull and Ferrari - given that he would not want to drive for Ferrari while Alonso is there, I think he made an obvious but good decision. It's not clear whether Mercedes will ever be faster than Red Bull - becoming a future replacement for Schumi could mean a big pay deal but also possibly a slower car in future. So biding his time till 2014 at least seems smart to me.
