PDK is definitely faster than the old tech F1 in a F430. If I remember correctly, shifting time in a F430 is 150 ms, which isn't exactly slow, as it is nearly as fast as those of an Enzo. But compared to the shifting times of the latest version of Ferrari's F1 Superfast II (Scuderia, GTO) with shifting times of 60 ms, it is rather slow.
Somebody here knows if PDK is quicker than DCT in a 458 Italia?

The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
The Ferrari 458 and California transmissions are developed by Getrag while the Porsche PDK is developed by ZF. Both are 7-speed dual wet clutch transmissions and hence likely to be similar in design. The controlling software is probably similar too. So my guess is the shift times are comparable between Ferrari DCT and Porsche PDK.
The times I have seen for the PDK is 420 milliseconds if the next gear is not pre-selected and 8 milliseconds if the next gear is pre-selected. Don't quote me on these, I found them floating around on the net
