Next GT3 RSR

Does anyone know if Porsche plans to introduce the next GT3 RSR during mid season this year or they planning to race the modified 997 RSR that was introduces earlier this year. Just curious because I just saw a small clip of the new Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 car and it looks fast as it does good. I think Porsche are going to have there hands full this year in endurance sports car racing, but I still hope there changes made to the outdated 997 RSR will be enough to win a couple of races. I hope they are working on the next RSR based on the new 991.

I'm not sure what you mean by the next GT3 RSR. Porsche introduced the 2011 car a couple of weeks ago. That is the car that will be racing this season.

It has some modifications and improvements. Will it be enough? I suspect not, but we will have to wait and see.

Hey spyderidol, so the revised 997 RSR will be racing for the rest whole season? I was hoping they may introduce the next RSR replacement based on the new 911 that is coming out. But I guess not because they have never brought in a new model mid season come to think about it. I guess that means if Porsche in 2012 comes out with new RSR the Ferrari teams with 458 GT2 will have one year of developement on the new Porsche's.

You wont see a " new " GT3 RSR until you see a GT3 RS road car. Remember that the RS is the homolgation car for the RSR.

Spyderidol, that will be a few years out dont you think? What is Porsche plan on doing racing the 997 chassis for a few more years with modifications? i could of sworn that the 2007 997 RSR came out before the GT3 RS. I may be wrong.

Well we are assuming that there will be a 991 GT3 RS. They may just base the future RSR on the "normal" GT3. They may not need to have a RS model.....initialy.

I am very curious ...and a little aprehensive.

The RS model is a good money maker too, though. The big premium it carries over the normal GT3 is money welcome for PAG
