Mercedes is improving the dynamics of its cars and taking on BMW in their own game.
Most reviews place the E class higher than the new 5 series in terms of steering and handling.
For me personally all these types of car are irrelevant. Its either a real sportscar or a SUV if space is required.

Nah, i think the Mercedes E is the perfect car for daily stuff. Of course when you can branch out on having two cars then specializing into SUV and sports makes sense.
But, why is the C coupe coming so late in the line-up? I guess they still had CLKs for sale...

Before getting the X5 M, I was seriously considering the C 63 AMG with Performance Package. My dealer had one in the showroom and I almost made the deal but in the end BMW was slightly better with their offer for my used Cayenne Turbo S and the lease offer.
Another reason I didn't go for it: Trunk space (big but not really SUV big) and...missing AWD. In Bavaria and for skiing vacations, AWD is almost a must.
The C63 AMG has an amazing engine/exhaust sound, it is one of the remaining "dinosaurs" of the V8 world. It sounds like a real US big block V8 muscle car, especially when the exhaust has burned free after a couple of thousands of km. One of our admins is driving a C63 AMG as a "business car" and he loves it.
Price tag is also very attractive in Germany, aprox. 80000 EUR with PP and around 100000 EUR with the most important options.

Hmm... I am looking at new CLS 63 AMG. In Germany with full options(Performance Package, Performance chassis etc.) it is around 147K €(with Mwst). Sound too expensive? Panamera Turbo is around 180K € with same options and with PCCBs and Power upgrade over 190K €...
Only good question is either to wait for new BMW M5?

I think that is a wise choice. Although the CLS 63 is a fantastic new car, i think the new M5 will be stunning. Not sure about the engine, but the entire thing will be brand new and considering it's based on the 5er it'll look sharp also. I would definitely wait for the M5 because it'll be a very good option price/performance wise!

The only concern I have regarding the new M5 is weight. I am hopeful that the use of lighweight materials will allow it to significantly undercut the 4400 lb kerb weight of the 550i.
Latest rumor: No weight reduction (M5 will be heavier than 550i) but instead more power . Apparently the 580 HP rumored a while ago are back into the game.

nice car really...
but the best value is the brand new model, the lift cycle is too short for facelift cars IMO
The next gen C63 AMG may get a turbo charged engine, so the engine/exhaust sound will never be the same again.
