    After 5 yrs w/o a Porsche, I Bought 2011 Cayman

    After 5 years w/o a Porsche, and after about a 2.5 year search, I bought about a week ago, a 2011 Cayman (non-S) with PDK. I've lurked here on Rennteam and other Porsce sites dreaming of this day. Words alone can't explain how amazingly awesome my Cayman is. Even though I've had it for only a short while, we've bonded, and it is already my favorite of the 4 Porsches I've owned (997.1 coupe, 997.1 cab, and 986 Boxster). Here's a thread with pictures I started on planet-9. Comments and questions from my fellow Rennteamers are always welcomed:

    Congratulations on your car! Does look quite attractive in platinum silver, any intentions to change the side markers to the clear versions?

    If I understood correctly on the other forum, you originate from Turkey?

    Five years without a Porsche is way too long..

    Having said that, I went about the same time without a 911... to see out the 996 era! - but I did have a 944 for fun and an E31 BMW for DD..

    Many congratulations on re-joining the gang..

    Congratulations! One question did it come with paddle shifters or the same buttons on the steering like in the 2009 PDK model?

     In just the two weeks I've owned my Cayman, I've received many more compliments on it, than I ever remember receiving for my 997 Coupe, 997 Cab, or Boxster. 

    My 997's were Arctic Silver, and my Boxster was Seal Gray. My Cayman is Platinum Silver. 

    Compliments are very enthusiastic, and are coming from both men and women. It really has amazed me, and is something I've definitely taken note of.

    It turns out that Arctic Silver is still in the colour chart. Platinum Silver appears to be an additional silver.

    It seems darker than Arctic Silver. Looks nice

     Arctic Silver is a special order color (at least in the US) beginning 2011. Platinum Silver is the 'Silver' for 2011. Thanks for the compliments. The best way to describe Platinum Silver is the color of James Bond's 1964 Aston Martin Coupe, which debuted in Goldfinger (2004), was reprised in Thunderball (1965), and made a cameo in the Daniel Craig debut as Bond, Casino Royale (2006). Zaino Z2 seems to lighten the color slightly.

    @ patriot - great car - platinum looks a much fresher silver rather than the rather dull arctic shade.

    My first mod is on it's way from Suncoast - I ordered a set of front spoiler lips, already primered, that I will have painted body color. In the Gen. 2 Cayman S, the front spoiler lips are body colored, whereas in the Base Cayman like mine, it's an option. I think it will make mine look even better than it already does. Anyone know what brand paint I should have the paint shop use, and any special additives I should request, given the lips are hard plastic I presume?
