CloseDriving the Cayman S yesterday and "Reduced Engine Power" appeared on the OCD. What an understatement. The car became gutless. Anyway, phoned the service centre & the Techie said I am in need of a software update but they need the car for a whole day as it can only be done when the engine & gearbox are cold. Has anyone had something similar & why does the engine & gearbox need to be cold for the update

Just an update. So much for the software update. Turned out to be the fuel pump which makes sense with the " Reduced Engine Power" message. Interesting to note that according to the Service Centre the fuel tank should be refilled as soon as the low level message appears especially in warmer climes as apparently the pump cannot keep cool enough with the reduced fuel quantity.

Good idea. I would also exchange the fuel filter more often if you are using fuel with lower quality (not sure if this can happen in Dubai though 
).
