    Re: New toy

Yes, I've got a new horn push with the Dino logo. Here it is on the new steering wheel when we did a trial fitting before starting the restoration work.

    Re: New toy

The Dynomat soundproofing and new cabin and trunk mats are in The door glass will go back in on Friday and the door cards put back on. A piece of the carpet kit was missing from the kit when it arrived from Italy but that will hopefully arrive by the end of next week.

    Re: New toy

A couple of customers who've visited the dealership with a view to buying some of the other used cars there have spotted my Dino, been smitten by it and decided to look for one for themselves

    Re: New toy

    It looks very nice.

For you and your cars sake, please double check that they have used better wiring than original spec. I have seen two Dinos burn to the gunwhales from oem wiring being too thin for some applications on the car.

Handling wise they feel like a 914/6 with off road springs, but they sound a thousand times better!

     +1

and that red carpet looks AMAZING !

    Re: New toy

The suspension has been overhauled and re-bushed Jim. The head tech says it's lovely to drive now with very precise steering.

Apologies that the quality of the pic's is so poor. I've no idea what camera the dealer is using but I think it must be 500 pixels at most  Smiley

    Re: New toy

Haha the pics get the beauty across just fine. I absolutely love the red carpet kid. You're really going to town with this toy, i love it. Keep up the good work!

    Re: New toy

    ET of completion Iain?

    It's look really good!!!!

    Re: New toy

It should be done within 2 weeks Mike. It's virtually completed now as all of the major mechanical work has been done. The outstanding items now are refitting the side windows and quarter lights, refit the door cards, put the seats back in, fit the seatbelts, finish off the remaining items of trim (one section of carpet and the rear of the centre console) and fit the new wheels. It will then be put through an MOT test, cleaned and returned to me.

It's been a long haul and I've ended up doing far more to it than I thought was required when I bought it but it should hopefully now be in great shape for the next 10 to 15 years at least and require only routine servicing.

    Re: New toy

I wasn't sure about the red carpets, but the result looks really good.

When finished it should look like this.

    Re: New toy

It's taken longer than expected but finally my Dino has been finished! There is one piece of interior carpet still to arrive but other than that it's complete, set up and ready to come back to me. If the carpet arrives early next week (who knows as the supplier involved is fairly hopeless) I should get the car back by next weekend.

Once I have the car in my possession I'll take some proper photographs. In the meantime here are some shots from the workshop today after the final roadtest was completed.

The list of work was extensive and the main items were as follows: -

    • Full exterior repaint
    • Cylinder head gaskets replaced
    • Valve tolerances reset
    • Carburettors overhauled and balanced
    • Fuel system cleaned through
    • New alternator fitted
    • All cooling system hoses replaced
    • Suspension rebushed and wishbones re powder coated
    • Radiator re-cored
    • Cooling fans stripped and cleaned
    • Cabin heater air ducting replaced
    • Windscreen and all side glass replaced including new rubber seals and window channels
    • New tyres and Campagnolo alloy wheels fitted
    • Cabin floor and door skins lined with Dynomat sound/heat proofing
    • Dash recovered & steering wheel renewed
    • Instrument surround restored
    • New cabin carpets fitted
    • New trunk carpets fitted
    • New front bumpers fitted
    • New windcreen wiper arms and blades fitted and wiper motor overhauled
    • Various rewiring work carried out
    • Choke operation assembly renewed (operating found to have been broken previously)
    • Cabin heater reconnected
    • Door seals replaced
    • Electric window mechanisms stripped and cleaned
    • Numerous cosmetic items renewed

The satisfaction you'll get from owning and driving it will surely repay everything you've put into its restoration.

    Re: New toy

Stunning car, and in true showroom condition. I like that you also did a lot of mechanical work and not just cosmetic. It couldn't have been cheap, but the end result is fantastic
