Have performance figures been published for Panamera Turbo powerkit?

    Wonderbar:

Have performance figures been published for Panamera Turbo powerkit?

I don't think so and due to the weather over here, I wasn't able to actually do much with this car. Smiley Don't expect much improvement from 0-100 kph but 0-200 kph acceleration time improves by aprox. one second. The powerkit isn't something you really miss on the Panamera Turbo but if money isn't really an issue, it can't hurt either. Smiley

The Turbo Powerkit features two new, lighter turbos for improved engine response. In order to boost output from the Panamera Turbo's 4.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8, Porsche opted to swap out turbochargers. For even better response, the engine control unit has also been updated, for total output of 540 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque -- increases of 40 and 37, respectively. When equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, torque rises to 590 pound-feet in Sport Plus mode.
With the boost in power and torque, Porsche claims the Panamera Turbo will run from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, around 0.1 second faster than the standard Panamera Turbo. Top speed also rises by 2 mph to 190 mph.

All this speed doesn't come cheap. The Turbo Powerkit and its 40 horsepower bump will retail for $21,730 when it becomes available next month. It will be optional on all 2011 Panamera Turbos, and will be offered as a retrofit this November

RC - maybe you mis-understood her...  maybe she meant that besides the X5, she needs something with LESS than four seats for social occasions with special people like you.... ie. the Panamera-2 door (which neatly brings us back on topic... Smiley )

I bet that in a couple of months, she wants something completely different. Smiley

I actually plan to give her the X5 M...when the lease ends Smiley but I want to get myself a Porsche again, very likely the 991 Carrera S, maybe the Cab. Time will tell.

My wife loved the Panamera from the first moment. She tells me continuously she wants one. Somehow it would make much more sense as the Carrera. As you all know I complained dozens of times about the space and that on weekends I either have to carry the family or my golf bags, neither of them I can do with the Carrera. So... I guess she is getting me weak  If there wouldnt be the announcement of the new 911 next year I think I would have already ordered an Panamera but damn... a new 911 is a must have

There's no contradiction so far as I can see: Panamera and 911 are not comparable, they represent different concepts. One as a sportscar the other as a limo ( a slightly sporty one). In my case I could imagine to substitute the X5M with the Panamera, but not the 911. Just my opinion :-)

IMO for the 911 there is no substitute. If you are hooked to its feel there is no other sports car. This doesn't mean there are no other excellent sportscars but nothing similar.

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

In my opinion, Porsche made a huge mistake by designing the Panamera as a 4-seater only. I personally know two couples who refrained from buying one because of that. When you have two kids, it is a no-go. Simple reason for that: just imagine my wife drives around with the two kids but needs to take another woman and her kid or her (my wife's) parents with her when they visit us. It happens pretty often, we always need  five seats and this is why the X6 M was a no-go either.

I heard however some chatter from Weissach that Porsche is (or was ?) testing a 5-seat Panamera, so maybe...who knows ?!

Let's hope that the new 911, the 991, gets more head room in the rear as rumored by many sources. This could be a solution for my "dilemma" on which car to get next year or the year after that.

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

I don't know what was the reason for not designing the Panamera as an optional 4 or 5 seater from the start, this way they would sell to both target groups, there are many people who would of bought the Panamera but the 4 seater only was a deal braker.

    --

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

Agreed, 5 seater in a sedan or SUV is a no go.

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

I read on rennteam the reason was that the rear passangers in the panamera sit so low that the drive shaft goes where the middle seat would be.

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

if they wanted they could have solved it.

i guess it goes back to strict market research decisions that they probably think most buyers are at an advanced age where the kids will have left the house.

or that a panamera owner will also have a ute for driving around the family.

Re: Panamera Coupe Rumor - Coupe but not Panamera ?

The Panamera is a high end luxus car and for that reason you don´t need 3 seats in the rear. I have two cars with 2 seats in the rear and my family really enjoy the two rear-seats (cars). If someone need five seats in the car then there are so many other cars out there with five seats. Having a three seats in the Panamera would destroy the elegant line (interiour) and would destroy the high class rear seats. It is luxus to sit in the same seat in rear as in front.

Yes and no. I still think that the Panamera would appeal to a broader customer range with a third seat in the rear.

The decision about a rear 3-seats option should be made soon but I have no indication whatsoever of the outcome.

The Coupe is definitely getting two rear seats only.

I agree with RC. Having only two seats at the back , makes it a no-no for families with more then one or two kids. And for instance, as strange as it seem, most of my wealthy friends, including myself, have 3 kids .
