The problem with the 1 series is that it is simply unattractive. As much as i would like to get one, I can't get over the ugly silhouette.

There is another "problem": the end-of-life cycle of this car. The 1M is the icing on the cake but the cake will be gone soon. Smiley

For 45000 EUR (and maybe minus the "usual" 11-13% rebate at my local dealer for the usual M cars), this car could be a blast.

Right now, I still think that the Audi TT RS is the best bang for the buck regarding performance but the 1M could make me change my mind. Let's wait and see.

I swear that if I could I would drive down to my BMW dealer right now and put down a deposit for one in dark gray. I just love the whole idea of this car.

Having it only in manual transmission is its only handicap, IMO.

Other than that, I was expecting a lighter car from 1 series platform; around 1420 kg. Instead it will be around 1540-1560 kg which is almost E46 terratory.

The idea is great, but maybe the next generation Smiley

They were late but better than never.

The most important thing about BMW 1M is that it shows the new perspective of BMW M Division. ///M made X5/X6 M but on the other hand produce M3 GTS (well, I'm not a big fun of, I find it as a tuner car instead of factory car but that's another story) and BMW 1M. BMW 1M shows the current philosophy of Motorsport Production which is promising for the future M cars. That's why I also believe Z4 M will be produced.

I LOVE IT. It's just so epic in every single sense. Most of all there's the small size. Reminds me of my e30's in size. It could count as a modern interpretation of the E30. I just wonder why it took BMW so many years to bring the top 1er to the market... By now the all new 1er is just around the corner..

Performance wise this thing will be stupid fast. I drove the 135i and it was out of the world. I can't even imagine how nuts this thing will go.. well done BMW, a true hardcore German Muscle Car.

what I do not like about the car is this hype about it - I would prefer to have a set date, that's it, and not this reviews of the camou car for months now...but, given my age I do find some resemblance to the old 2002 i etc., which I do like!

But, back to the topic - I am looking forward to see what the car may do on a track -i.e. brakes and stuff...as of the moment, I would rather prefer a cayman on a track than the equivalent from audi or now, bmw...

The price tag of the 1M will be very attractive, under 50000 EUR (after rebate) with the necessary options, not bad at all. Performance will be close to the M3 Coupe but not quite the same, 0-100 kph in 4.8 seconds, 0-200 kph in 17.5 seconds, as far as I heard from a source.

I would still prefer the Audi TT RS with Speedtronic but thats a personal preference.

That is almost as fast as the M3! I wonder if it's actually faster than the M3 on the track? TTRS is great, but with this one you can actually carry 4 people very comfortably. I've spent much much more money to make my own "1M". Should have just waited two years haha.

would deginitely chosoe this over a golf R or some other form of power-hatch.

it's a cool little city-car type of thing.

bmw really is grabbing the market when people want subtle and performance.
