I cannot see why these 10cm or so (if they will exist in the end) are of such importance, especially if they will be coupled with better accommodation?
What matters more is the weight of the car and the quality of its chassis.
Comparing this assumed increase in length to a Jaguar XK at 4.80m,as some have suggested, is exaggerated.

I agree, but if you own one of these in the UK, 90% of the house builders build garages that won't fit the car in. 
I have a double garage and on one side I have 100mm between the front and back of the Mk V Golf and on the other side which is slightly longer I think I'd just be able to fit 991 in if it was 100mm longer and our garages are larger than the standard offerings.

But that is more of an indictment of the UK planning authorities who allow housing developers to get away with building impractically small garages than it is of the dimensions of modern European cars.
When driving around any modern housing development in the UK, you're likely to see the residents' cars parked overnight in a driveway or on the street because the undersized garages are just big enough to take the kids' bikes, a lawn mower, and a few other items any family is inclined to accumulate.

anyway I digress, the white GTS pictures from ResB do sure look good and anybody who gets a GTS is getting a nice vehicle, and if the 991 is better you can always just trade it in, it's only money right. I for one am excited as to what Porsche will bring to the table with the 991, if we look to the past the 997S was as fast as the old 996 turbo or gt3 so if we can apply that sort of evolution to the 991 who can complain? If they can extend the wheelbase to bring a better weight distribution then great, why not? Anyway can't see the new car being worse than a 997 which already is a great car...

John, I am looking forward to hearing about the delivery of your GTS and seeing lots of picture...
Unfortunately, here is the US the dealers will not have GTSs to look at until early next year so your thoughts will be most appreciated..

Kreso , this is my post (Apr.15.2009) and this method is pretty accurate and shows that WB is about 93 mm longer but overall length is appx. 115 mm shorter .
I find it hard to believe that the 991 grows its wheelbase 100mm (vs the 997.2) and its overall length is also 100 mm smaller than the 997.2.
I think that the final product will be either the same length as the 997.2 (which already implies shorter overhangs) or, more likely, longer.
