Perhaps Porsche changed the route ?

They may have had no fun on getting shot always on the same traffic light.

    He'll be back I'm sure.

For someone to request to be a friend, before he'd actually made any posts whatsoever on the forum, certainly had an air of confidence about him.  It was funny to notice that he'd already been added to a number of members friends lists.   I thought some of you must have known him.

We've not seen the last of him for sure.

I also accepted after a day or so when I had noticed he had posted a lot of pics and seemed genuine. At first it was strange, BUT THEN THE WHOLE SYSTEM OF FRIEND INVITATIONS here is a little strange. I view many here as friends, yet I am not the type to send an invitation to anyone.

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Fil de discussion fermé

    Latest rumour from another source...

Little hint I have recieved today:

There will be a special version based on GT3 RS, this car will feature 4.0l engine and will be presented in May 2011 as the very last version of 997 model run. Launch of 991 will take place a bit later, public launch to take place a Frankfurt 2011, some press or private evens or so may happen earlier, they are yet tbd...

Let's hope it looks like this GT3 R from today's VLN race...

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Fil de discussion fermé

Great, but shouldn't the new generation 911 be introduced by then ? What's the point in revealing a 200000 euro top-model that will look dated as soon as it is launched ? And who in his right mind will buy such a car ? For that kind of money, I would rather buy a brand new 991 Carrera AND a used GT3 RS. It's silly to pay that much money for just 30 bhp more.

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Fil de discussion fermé

Anyway, have you read this article ? It says that the 991 will have ELECTRIC POWER-STEERING (yuck), and that the convertible will get a FABRIC COVERED HARDTOP, which I think it's a good thing assuming that the weight will not increase astronomically. But electric power steering ?! I don't think that's a smart move. In fact, I think it's a really stupid one Smiley

(for example, bmw ruined it's new 5-series with it!)

The Cup cars have what Porsche calls  "Power steering with electro-hydraulic pressure feed"..

We don't know exactly yet, what type of set-up the 991 will have.

Wait a minute, I don't see that logic. A fabric covered hardtop would still weigh a bit more than a hardtop not covered with anything. Even if the whole fabric weighs 500 grams, that means 500 grams more weight than the metal hardtop not covered with anything. And either option would still weigh more than a soft-top.

A regular folding hardtop has 2 hard layers, the interior hard panels and the exterior metal panels, maybe Porsche will work out a sort of hybrid where the interior panels are more rigid than on regular soft tops but the exterior is still covered in fabric. That could save the weight of the metal panels but still have the rigidity of a hardtop (and the good looks of the soft top). Well thats my theory.

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Fil de discussion fermé

Hmm I don't think so, I believe a small European coupe-convertible car used a similar system, they covered the metal hardtop with fabric because owners complain that people couldn't tell that their car is a cabriolet. I forgot the name of the car or the maker, I think it was Renault or something..

Prime example of people not caring about the car they're getting but rather how people will see them in it. Imo (as long as it doesn't cause you troubles) you should drive a car because you like it not because you want other people to like you for it.

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Fil de discussion fermé

On the cab pics , we can see that there is a hard structure under the canvas. So this could well be true . I just wonder how the folded hard top will fit in the back...
