Bad news for those who couldn't decide if they want to order a GT2 RS or not: since yesterday, the 997 GT2 RS is officially sold out. All 500 cars have been sold.
There are already several on the grey market at MSRP... Effectively, prices are below MSRP already. I guess, many cars were sold to the wrong people By spring next year discounts for new cars will most likely be in the 10 percent range

Whatever happens in the market does not remove anything from the car itself. It is a very, very special automobile and whoever is fortunate enough to own one should count their blessings.

Agree 100%, this will be forever the ultimate 997 and one of the most historical Porsche ever made. Power, engine heritage and design are all up to what Porsche was made off.

While I will also get one - I have to say that I consider the GT2 RS just a facelift of the previous GT2. I still think that is more than enough as the pre-FL GT2 was already one of the very best high-performance cars on the planet. On the other hand the GT2 RS is not much more - how could it? The GT2RS is just a slightly refined version. That might also explain the weak secondary market. Many buyers might have bought the car under a different assumption
P.S.: I also think - realistically - that the next GT2 will make us forget the GT2RS quite quickly. These cars get better and better from generation to generation.

Good job Porsche! When is yours arriving Markus?
Mine is on it's way to me as we speak
Kozzoloz:
Saw one cruising up and down the street in Fort Lauderdale, it definitely has a huge road presence.
Doesn't the US only start deliveries February next year?
Not before spring arrives in Germany - special deal
I look forward to hearing from your impressions of this car The GT2 RS is an outstanding package

the GT2 RS will be an instant classic. Given the automotive developments, nothing will ever be like it. Engines smaller, more stupid hybrid stuff, more electronics, bigger size, faster but boring..
I think the 991 RS series may probably be quicker and whatnot, but it will feel different.
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

Some are on the grey market at MSRP or lower because of the rumored new GT3 RS.
Still...the GT2 RS will be a very rare Porsche model.
A new 997-based GT3 RS or for the new generation 991?
997-based.

Thanks RC. This surprises me given that there are a few examples of the GT3 RS just sitting, brand new, on my dealer's lot.
There are GT3 RS sitting at dealer's lots over here in Germany too, rebates are as high as up to 11%. Still...there is a strong rumor that Porsche will put a limited series GT3 RS with slightly over 500 hp on the market soon.

If I was in the market for a ~$150k sports car, I would jump on the GT3 RS, especially if any are available once the special edition is released.

WAY im sorry to hear this. Feel good though because if Porsche continues on their recent trend you will be pleasantly surprised by a future model and never look back
