Nice to be participating again. I was lurking because I was sensitive about being "all hat and no Porsche".
So I fixed the problem. Here's a picture, as I found it at the dealer.
2005 Carrera, Carmon Red, Sport Chrono, 19s, etc.
See the little 1966 912 in the background? It was a trip down memory lane, as my first Porsche was a 1967 912, bought new in San Francisco.

I'm wondering what Porsche's future corporate strategy will be ? Typically core competencies focus on the main product lines (in terms of produced units, sales) - I very much hope that the guys in the sportscar department don't loose too much of influence and importance.
Sportscar smithy (past) -----> Luxury car maker (presence) -----> Upscale VW department with a "sporty history" (future ?)

I only associated Cajun with cooking, until I looked it up because of this thread. But Cayenne was a funny name for a car in 2000 when it was announced and now it is a household name in things automotive.
Of course if the proposed name means something bad in another language it should be dropped. I remember the SEAT Malaga , a very popular model in Greece was eventually marketed there as SEAT Gredos because Malaga sounded like Malaka a Greek word for someone who masturbates!
Mitsubishi Pajero, was Montero in Spain, for the same reason

you can't even imagine how much fun people make of that model here. "Pajero" is a term here for someone that ... 'pleasures' himself a lot

Guys, a smaller SUV got the green light but a lot of changes are still possible, nothing is final yet.
It will very likely be based on the Q5 platform and it will very likely have two doors only in the beginning. Most powerful version is rumored to be powered by a supercharged V6 engine with up to 350 hp.

I don't think I would ever buy a two door SUV, but I suppose some might. The two doors would certainly limit it's usefulness. I do like the smaller SUV idea though.
Take Germany as an example: many over here buy a smaller SUV mainly because of the higher seating position (which provides a better safety feel and better visibility) but also because they transport dogs, kids, etc. with that SUV.
Larger SUVs have a bad reputation of being gas guzzlers and dangerous in accident impacts.

Once upon a time, most SUVs were two door: the first generation Range Rover, Ford Broncos and the like, back when they were actually sport (hunting and off-roading) utility (hauling dogs or chainsaws into the woods) vehicles. You know, before we had families and had to drive our kids around to after school activities.
I think today, if given a choice, most people would pick four doors. Is there anything in that class today with just two doors? Last one I remember was an Isuzu.

For many people SUVs have taken on the family duties which first station wagons and later on minivans used to fulfil.

Exactly. Which is why I haven't owned a sedan/limo since the Audi 100 I had in the Seventies. I either have a go-fast car (Porsche) and a go-shopping/take the dogs/go to the mountains car. And I'd rather spend the money on the go-fast car and let the runaround vehicle be something I don't have to think much about.
Probably my favorite in that area was a Volvo V70R -- a fast cruiser with tons of room inside. Had a Range Rover, thought I'd love it but it never really grabbed me, although it was truly great off-road.
I know lots of people like their Cayennes -- GM and I once took his on an epic trip to the wilds of West Texas and had a great time driving at autobahn speeds to get there and then rock climbing in the wilderness.
Ah, the sport, the utility!

I would buy one for sure. This could be exactly what I was looking for. A lighter SUV. I don't have kids so I would buy the two door option. And I need the ground clearance of an SUV in my country. Porsche please the weight under control and please don't make it longer than 4.5 meters.

The thread is about Cajuns. My mother-in-law is a Cajun. Therefore my mother-in-law is fair game to mention in this thread. She is also smaller and less powerful than a Cayenne.
