lets lets see what we have: dual zone climate controls, touchscreen, paddles, bigger dials (i think), leather seam is weird.
i wonder what that central rocker switch is for (the one if front of the pdk gear lever)?
any other observations?
The new dials look great , but that center console is way too big and heavy looking . I am not happy to see bits of the luxury sedans Panamera/Cayenne squashed into the sporty 911.
The hand brake has gone too, must be an electronic one now.

wow... looks good. think the center console is just nice and not too heavy. slightly smaller in width than the Cayenne. would have like to guess what are those buttons for, especially the three buttons right at the rear of the console and in their own well....
I believe the chrono could be recessed into the front dashboard like the newer models.
Nice!!

The interior looks great - BUT, it looks like the switch panel of an airplane or Maybach and that car is not an lightweight because of all its features. But - there is hope, the GT3 might have less buttons and hopefully much less weight!

Not a fan of all those buttons on a sportscar. Would prefer to see an iDrive like system.

IMO the new console (as pictured) makes the interior look more expensive and luxurious which is important in this class nowadays, given the increasing competition.
For me it might not be important because my Porsche ownership started with spartan air-cooled models and I appreciate other attributes. But for new buyers the current interior is not enough.

It probabily indicates the direction of where 911 is heading to.

wow, liking the center console very much!
Looks pretty much high-quality
Exactly! the 997 interior console and dash never stood out in quality, it was OK, but nothing you didn't see in a Merc Class B nowadays, and the 996 was even worse. This one stands out in terms of quality look, like the panamera's, which is not in conflict with sportiness either.
But I also like very much that everything is laid out in buttons, and that is how it should be in sportcars, in a sportcars you need to concentrate on the driving, not navigating through menus to reach a function, you want to be able to access what ever you want to activate/deactivate quickly and without barely taking you eyes off the road, with a quick press of a button. That is the reason why a plain's cockpit or race cars have everything laid out in buttons all over the place. Some may no like it aesthetically but in Porsche tradition this center console is very much form follows fucntion. Joysticks, menus, wheels, ect are for sedans...
And I don't think is big at all, its the same with as the 997's console its just that this one is elevated and higher, and flows into the dash incorporating many of the buttons on the console itself, so "visually" it may appear busier and more present, but there really isn'tmuch room left in a 911 to make it bigger-wider.

Well, a Panamera-like interior is no surprise, is it?
Concerning the new look, I'm not so into this Vertu-style-button layout in the centre console. It's alright for a car like the Panamera, but I don't really need it in a 911. That there is dual climate control is nice, though I realised I hardly ever have those two switches on different settings, especially it is a relatively compact car. The loss of the mechanical parking brake is the "merit" of today's electronics. I don't like that feature very much, I have it in the 458 and think it is absolutely useless.
So far I think the 991 will bring us an expected new look in the interior, for me this new look is more "different" than "better" compared to the 997.

Ferrari has a good reason to use an electrical parking brake... In my last car from Maranello the (manual) parking brake lever nearly fell off if pulled heavily. No kidding. Poor quality

You are right about this. The lever of a Ferrari parking brake has always been a "special" experience.
Still I don't like the electrical parking brake.

And good riddance. I'm so god damn tired of Porsche making amazing performance cars that all have shit interiors. I'll let the 911 exterior look slide for a little bit longer, but the interior has been garbage for ages.
