    Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

Maserati will introduce the GranTurismo MC Stradale in the first quarter of 2011.

This car will be aprox. 150 kg lighter than the GranTurismo S, the engine gets a boost to 450 HP and the top speed increases to 301 kph.

Of course the chassis and many other parts will be adapted to the sportier character of this car.

The price tag is not known yet but around 122000 EUR (without country specific VAT) are rumored.

My personal opinion on the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale: this is actually the first Maserati sportscar I would seriously consider buying.

There is even the rumor that this car gets the gearbox from the F430 Scuderia.

Sequential manual in 2011 sportscar? NO, NO... Of course, IMHO. DCT a la PDK all the way for me.

This rumour alone would be enough for me NOT to consider buying it. Smiley

This is the first Maserati I like; the first one ever, including MC12. I mean not the GT but MC Stradale.

However, I expect it to cost more than 120K Euro, most likely close to 140K NETTO in Germany. That is serious money and I would not buy it if I were in the market for a car in this price range. I would rather get a Turbo S, R8 V10 or LP560-4.

At 100K euro, this car would get my vote.

Around 122000 Euros sounds like a pretty precise figure... Smiley

I find the GranTurismo to be quite hefty in size, not sure if it corresponds with the proclaimed character of a sportier model. With the added slants and panels, a darker colour would definitely be my choice.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

German price tag with 19% VAT is rumored at 150000 EUR...base price without any options. Don't forget that this car is a special model before the next GranTurismo generation will be presented (2012 ?...or maybe at the Frankfurt Autoshow ?). This car should also appeal more to non-typical Maserati customers because of sportier setup.

For 100000 EUR, this car would be a no-brainer but it ain't going to happen.

    @ Rossi:

Most of my friends told me that the Scuderia Gearbox was the best ever. Some of them bought a 458 and sold it a short time after, cause they are missing this typical shifting feeling. So the shifting time is only 40 ms by the MC Stradale. I´m sure this Maserati can do a lot more than all of you expect at the moment. I hope Novitec will make a 600 hp demonstrator. I drove the normal GTS with the 600 hp package and there were only two things which i don´t like: wheight and suspension. The new handling package at the GTS is quite good, it is stiffy and precise to handle. If the new MC is lighter and has maybe sport tires on then this car is getting a real sports car.

It was the best ever gearbox, for a car like the Scuderia that is. But not for a GT, as reginos already pointed out. If it will be the gearbox of the Scuderia, shifting time should be 60ms BTW.

I've heard that the GranTurismo will get a major facelift/engine upgrade by 2012. I think it's way too soon to get replaced.

I'm a big fan of the Maserati GT. I'm loving this Stradle but i have to say that 120k is a bit too much!!

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

the shifting time is faster than by the Scuderia, Maserati says. BTW it is rumored that the Stradale will get bucket seats and an overall cage. the car is the homogation modell for the mc gt4 version. so the scuderia gearbox makes sense.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

The car is already available on the configurator site. The interior looks amazing!! if i can get the same interior on a regular GT, I'll consider getting it.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

I just wish this car would have 50 horses more.

I know there are tuners out there but I'm not really a fan of tuned N/A engines.

This would be my Stradale... (I know, I know...too subtle but I like it that way)

Hopefully Maserati offers a delete option for the roll bar in the rear. Many people are interested in Maserati because of the additional space in the rear (kids, dogs, whatever).

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

I just wish Maserati would finally step up and get engines close to Ferrari performance.

The subtle look is a huge plus for Maserati but their current GTS performance is worse than the one of the BMW M3 Coupe...for almost 50000 EUR more.

Maserati has improved a lot over the past years but now they need to do the right step forward.

The Stradale is a first step into the right direction but for this kind of money, the performance should be better.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

The huge front intake opening a few centimeters from the ground looks like the mouth of an animal licking the floor or like a big-mouth fish. This is not apparent so much in set pictures but every time I see one on the road this imagery immediately comes to my mind.

They don't need to recognise the brand, most people don't even recognise any brand. But in case of the GranTurismo they recognise that it is different and that's enough. Smiley

I think, that if you don't choose the 4-point harness belts it doesn't have the rear bar for them, leaving some free space in the back.

I'm a sucker for configurators  Smiley  I'd have mine like this: Grigio Granito (not matte) and blue interior to make it more maserati traditional.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

As a current Maser GTS owner, I can attest that dropping 300 lbs and adding a more sporty suspension is definitely a step in the right direction for the Maser GT.  But I'm interested in seeing what Maser has in store for the next generation and would pass on the Stradale.  They need to bring back the F1 tranny that was only available in 2009.  I feel bad for anyone who buys this car with the auto box because they are missing out on 80% of the fun of the car.  A next generation Maser GTS weighing in around 3600 with 50 more HP would be a major win for Maser.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

    Maser ? Sounds like Taser.

Yes, I'm also very curious about the next GTS generation but I doubt that Ferrari is going to give Maserati a longer leash here.

I just wish the Stradale would at least have the power figure of the F430 Scuderia.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

Maserati is no longer longer under Ferrari's control. It was moved out of the autonomous Ferrari group and placed together with Alfa Romeo within the Fiat Auto group some time ago under the control of Harald Wester. This may have a bearing on the future direction of the company and allow them to develop models Ferrari would have vetoed.

Sounds nice but Fiat is a huge kraken and I doubt that Mr. Wester can work against Ferrari. Don't forget that Ferrari is still supplying the technology and even some of the development for Maserati. I also think that putting Maserati into the same boat with Alfa Romeo is a huge mistake but time will tell.
