Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the lead car in the pack is a 911 cab with the rear view mirrors mounted on the door. However, Porsche may be testing next generation engine and transmission in Depth Valley in the these taped up test mules.

there are a few limited edition models in the pipeline as per my source - including a 4.0 Liter ..... to overcome a lower sales period until 991 is there....
Never heard about a 4.0 litre before. Doesn't make sense at the end of a production cycle, especially when there are other ways to get some more power.

Guys
Times ago i was at my dealer and talking about the 991 he tell me he was at a meeting a few days before and he has a report on future models coming...
Well, next year there are in plan others 997 special editions but NOT the new 911 at all! There will be 997 Speedster,997 GTS,and 997 silver edition, but no 991!
991 is in plan for Year 2012( MY 2013)
I don't whant to believe him,but yesterday i talk with another dealer and same answer no 991 till spring/summer of year 2012
Anyone hear the same thing?I'm worried, due i must wait for the 991 TT/GT3 till year 2013/2014?!?!?!
Hope my infos are wrong!!
any updated rumor about the intro of the new 911?
thanks!

if the 991 is being shown first in next septembers IAA - I am sure first customer deliveries will be towards 2012 - depending on which models they will start with...
If this is the case there must be something coming in 2011 that will keep up sales so I would agree with super darius comments. there simply has to be something attracting customers in 2011 and as I stated before we talked to a Porsche guy at Dijon Race track about rumors of a 4.0 GT or RS and he did not decline but .....
We need more concrete information on when the 991 will hit the dealerships..
If it is out next year then I won't be buying a new current PDK. If, however, it's not due till 2012, I may well do so..
This is important - we should have a more reliable timetable by now!!

IMHO, the answer to the question of when the 991 will be available seems to be where it will debut. If this new 911 (991) is to be shown at Frankfurt, as previous 911s have, then it will be either Sept 2011 or Sept 2013. It would seem that 2011 would be most likely with sales starting late 2011 for EU and early 2012 for US. If some other auto show is to be the 991 debut then it becomes much more difficult to predict.

Thanks Lars
I remember what you told,as said before,i HOPE the new car will be here next year and what they told me is wrong, due i whant to change my Turbo for the new Turbo or GT3 RS as soon they will be available, but not so late!!
Lars997:
As stated many previous times, my neighbor is the owner of a part supply company and he say they will start with high volume delivery in late spring 2011. Further on, I just learned that the Porsche factory tour will not show as much as usual for the next months as they already started transformation of production facilities. I'm very relaxed because I think we will see the new car in Frankfurt IAA roundabout a year from now. Further on I'm pretty convinced to have a new car in spring 2012 :)
Thanks Lars...I too am looking forward to a new car spring 2012

Ron (Houston):
John,
Please go ahead and purchase whatever you need, because probably the day after you buy it Porsche will announce the time line .
You're probably right Ron...
Anyway thanks guys...you've helped me make a decision...
The decision is to be indecisive.... My current car seems to be getting better with age so I'm not in a great hurry to change for the sake of change... IYKWIM
If I find a good deal with a 997.2 PDK, I may take it as a stop-gap pending the 991 launch.
Then again, I may bite the bullet and order a Turbo S, which would become a long-term keeper - still not sure...
