Napolis:
I get the reference and symbolic statement behind the stripe Jim, and how it fits thematically with the rest of the car but I don't think it's a bold enough statement for a project like this.
It's sort of like getting dressed in a new finely cut and sewn, custom, form fitting suit - then putting on Dad's old business tie.
Sometimes classy and understated is also a bit safe and boring. Not to mention this one should have your own "stamp" - not someone else's redux.
But these are all opinions and I'm not the one stroking the checks.
You could vinyl pink elephants and yellow sunflowers on the car and I'm sure it'll still be one of the, if not the most photographed cars at the race.
Side Note: Are you creating a Build Book for this project? Do you have a film crew recording the process for a net release movie or DVD? I'm sure the documentary book/video for this project is going to sell like hot cakes in the auto afcianado circles.
...the only thing stopping you in all likelihood, is you!

Are those single molded parts or are these taken from any other shelf?
They're cannibalizing a 430 Scud. Go back a page, it's the blue one he bought specifically for this purpose.
