Thanks for the video and yes, the X5 M is really fast. What I really love about this truck is the stealth looks. Most people don't have a clue that this X5 has 555 HP, most of them think this is just another Diesel X5. I love this truck.

A story that occurred last week.
I was at the Porsche Centre with my daughter who likes cars but they are not one of her main interests. Outside in the forecourt there was a new Cayenne in black and a Space Grey X5 that was taken in on part exchange. The cars were overlapping in profile.
Suddenly my daughter said to me "Look dad how the X5 looks next to the Cayenne! It looks as if it was made by a blacksmith" (a comment that in our language at least is not complimentary). I said to her "Does it look so bad to you?" and she said "Not until this moment that I see it next to the Cayenne".
That was a genuine unprompted response!
Personally, I wouldn't mind owning any X5.

Interesting story. My kids didn't even recognize the new Cayenne when they saw it for the very first time, my son thought this is a Nissan (and yes, next to a Nissan Qashqai, the Cayenne looks pretty close).
Same with a neighbor: when I brought home a Cayenne Hybrid for testing, he saw the car only from the side and asked me if this is a new japanese SUV. There was a huge Hybrid lettering on the sides, this may have distracted him.
The X5 M is a classic format SUV and this is why I actually like it too. The X6 M would be a much better "match" for the Cayenne but as you know, I haven't bought the X5 M for looks but for fun. On the other hand, I can't say I don't like it's looks. It looks way better than the BMW X1 and even the new X3 in my opinion.

Unfortunately here the X M models are out of bounds due to the tax on engine size. All the X5/6 sold are 3.0 Turbo Diesel. BMW buyers wouldn't spend for the extra c.c. and pay the tax difference. Similarly Mercedes.
However, people would buy a Cayenne S or Turbo and pay the high tax because they think it's worth it.
Similarly no one buys a BMW 5 or 6 or 7 above 3000cc because of the rising tax bracket. But buyers would pay the extra tax for a Porsche.
Different perceptions and buying habits.

Since the introduction of the new Cayenne, I haven't seen a single car on the street in Germany. I'm not driving around too much but I see many older Cayenne (mostly facelift models) but no new model. It may take some while for people to fall in love with the new Cayenne over here, the perception (useless luxury SUV, expensive, exclusive, fuel eating monster, "dirty", etc.) of the old Cayenne seems to continue in the minds of the people.
A smaller Cayenne could actually have a huge success but Porsche doesn't offer one...yet.

Is there something wrong with the microphone on that video or does the engine / exhaust really sound like a tuned Ford Fiesta?
Just read the various little reviews on this forum and you get a clue.

There is some surprising similiarity to the full-size SUV offerings from Nissan/Infinity. I would love to know whether the focus on Asian market and therefore styling trends is a smart move for a European company, especially one with a famous design language such as Porsche.
Those in the know please enlighten me whether European brands are appreciated more for adapting to domestic taste or sticking to their "exotic" roots.
