    NO MORE PASM!

    I am getting so sick and tired of the PASM (spasm) suspension.  My 2005 has many miles and the shocks actually seem totally worn out.  I have to drive in sport more now to keep the rear from bouncing too much.  Thinking about pulling the fuse on the PASM and going into limp home mode (actually the best setting!)

    I used to have PSS9 on my 996 - loved them.  I do not EVER want the PSS10 that works like PASM - just want normal suspension.

    Short of more Bilsteins what is a more practical (cheaper) way to go?  I was thinking of Bilstein struts (like the normal stock suspension) and shorter springs to bring the ride height down a bit to my 'S' spec.

    Has anyone done this or know of someone who has killed off their PASM (I know what needs to be done with the Car Computer to turn it off).

    Thanks

    Re: NO MORE PASM!

    Solution(s):

    1. get new shocks

    2. get the optional (not sure if available in the US) 20 mm chassis, it should be possible to retrofit it on a PASM equipped car

    3. get a new PASM compatible aftermarket suspension kit

    That was my thought as well. As you said above, there are ways to deactivate the PASM system on the respective cars. Not sure though if comfort and clearance would be appropriate for your streets. Could become tiresome on long distances.

    The upgraded Bilstein systems should provide better handling and feature more solid components so I would not exclude them in your considerations...

    Re: NO MORE PASM!

    I have the -20mm sports suspension and I actually much prefer it to PASM  If you can find a -20mm car, IMHO it's a great find

    I agree. I had a 20 mm sport chassis equipped 997 Carrera S and I just loved that car.

    I had a 997 4S with the -20mm sports suspension and just loved it , but 'confort levels' are a matter of personal preference and you need to try it out by yourself.
