It looks horrible and as far as I know, this is not the real deal but I heard that Porsche plans some sort of 911 special ed model for the end-of-life cycle, so maybe they're crazy enough to put this ugliness on the market. I surely don't hope so. The Boxster Spyder was already a disaster from any point of view, my dealer sold his one with a huge rebate.

The photo is an amalgamation of Turbo front, GT2 rear, and Boxster Spyder decklid. I don't know how many would pay a reported $200K USD for a car w/ a manual top like the Boxster Spyder which this concept clearly relies upon. I believe there were other photos a while back of a 997.2 in dark blue w/ a cut windshield and lower soft top roofline that seemed more compatible w/ a Speedster version of an electric top.

I am not convinced the limited edition Porsche with an inflated price tag plays anymore. It certainly doesn't seem to make sense for someone who is in the market for a Porsche that they can drive daily. It's too early to tell on the Boxster Spyder but a reasonably configured car is priced in the high $70's in the US. As I think about my next Porsche, this price pushes me toward a used C2S Cab.

That's the one, I think! Thanks for posting it!
This looks like a 997 - no 991 cammo issues (bent front bumper hiding front changes, different tail lights, etc).
Perhaps Porsche will make this a "last of the 997 limited issue" vehicles??
More power to the those of you who like this - just not my taste. I a strange way, I'm glad "speedsters" exist - I just don't want one. I think it adds a bit of character that Porsche has had so many varients, and labels over time!

It would look great...without the Hunchback of Notre Dame look.
This rear looks good on the classic 911 Speedster because the rear was visually shorter.
On the 997, this really doesn't look too good.
Apparently tastes are different...I know many people who like the Boxster Spyder too.

WAY:
Are you having a go at me RC? I believe I'm the only one on RT who is buying a Spyder! Grrr! Haha just kidding. The Speedster looks interesting.
You're lucky you live in Australia when going for the Boxster Spyder. For Germany, this car would just be a pain in the a.. due to the extremely complicated and time consuming roof removal/mounting. Top speed with the roof is also limited to 200 kph (125 mph).
Does it rain in Australia ?
Sorry...couldn't resist.
