    Porsche to develop new small SUV?

     Hello forum -

    Just found these articles/blog posts on Google News about Porsche officially looking into the creation of a new compact SUV to slot below the Cayenne [possibly based on the Audi Q5 or Q3].

    Any possibility of this being grounded in truth or just the hot air of a few enthusiastic autophiles? After all, Porsche is joining the Volkswagen corporate umbrella and they're still bullish on their plans to sell 150000 vehicles a year, so you never know...

    Looking into it ? Funny. As far as I know, the smaller Cayenne (or whatever it's name will be) has already a green light to go.  Rumors indicate that it is fully based on the Audi Q5 or it's successor platform. 

    Planned top model: a bi-turbo charged V6 (no V8 planned for this "little Cayenne") with a maximum of 350 HP (not yet decided).

    So they approved a smaller cayenne while still chewing the plans for a panamera coupe which can easily fit in their portifolio without further explanations ? I don't get it.

    A GT coupe got the green light too but I don't have a clue if this is going to be called Panamera Coupe or whatever. Smiley

    And people were complaining WW diluting the Porsche brand, Piech is doing even more to dilute the Porsche brand.

    WW introduced more models to finance the development of the sports car, Piech introduce even more models just to increase sales number.

    I don't mind what Piech is doing at all. Also just confimed today is a Cayman CS with a bit more power, lighter weight, -20mm sports suspension and optional half cage and lexan rear hatch. Go Piech!

    Well from what RC has been telling us about the social situation in Germany, a smaller more green SUV makes a lot of sense. The Cayenne will still handle the Asian and North American markets, while the baby SUV could serve Germany much better. I HOPE IT WILL BE A SPORTY SUV A LA X6!

    Exactly. A smaller "Cayenne" would be more politically correct but right now, it seems that the new Cayenne hardly makes a anti-social impact since most people don't even recognize it, especially not from the rear and when the Porsche lettering is missing. Smiley I guess this is a good thing but it remains to be seen how long it is going the media to pick this issue up again. Smiley

    I'm also very surprised that Porsche seems to keep a very low profile around the new Cayenne Turbo. I haven't seen a full blown review yet in any german car magazine, apparently they want to show off the "greener" models first before they let the beast of the leash. Smiley
