Different drivers Pentium, different drivers... Truth be told, the 458 kept much closer to the 599 on the straights, than the Scuderia did. The 599 is a straightline beast but the 458 seems to be almost on a par! The Scuderia makes a sick sound though!

FERRARI RULES!!!
458 is a masterpiece. The best Ferrari so far.
Here is 458 with RICS and real world front licence plate holder...

Gents, please comment video from Gustav that I posted below...
I spoke with two persons today that drove both cars(I didn't drove LP550-2 e-gear) and they both claim that 458 is way faster car. In fact one person said to me:"...to say that results are strange is more then enough."
Well, 100-200kmh times :
458 - 7,0s (AMS)
LP550 - 7,3s (Road and track, calculated from 0-60mph and 1/4mile time)
458 can probably do better though (6,4s by QR). I reckon the 458, considering first deliveries in march, had only few kms on it and wasnt broken in.

Kreso, why should the F458 be that much faster?
Okay, it has DCT versus old style sequential gear box, but both cars have similar power and I think the F458 driver hit the rev limiter once too often.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

Stefan,
Because 997.2 Turbo PDK wipe out the floor with LP560-4. How do I know that? I was in 997.2 Turbo PDK...

Nice vid. They seem exactly even, depending on who got the jump. But even all the way which is a first with the video's.
Watch it again, the 458 continues to put distance between itself and the Lambo, albeit at a slower rate of separation than in the first few seconds.

Is there enough padding on those seats?
This particular design, the 458, looks better to me in alternative colors vs. standard so far. I think yellow is best and I liked the hunter green one posted a while back. It will be interesting to see more offbeat colors show up.

Don't let berfes see those red callipers...
I was just going to write "is this Berfes car?"

I would prefer yellow calipers and yellow stiching though.
Beautiful seats and steering wheel.

I still believe Berfes was some kid having fun with us.
The more I look at the 458 the more I find it's styling similar to the 430 except for the head and rear tail lights and cosmetic changes to the open grill.
A page out of the Porsche styling book.

It looks quite different when parked beside a 430 Nick. The side profile is more reminiscent of the 246 Dino.
nberry:
I am not so sure. The footprint of the two cars are remarkable similar. Remove the cosmetic styling cues and show a silhouette and they are very close.
Porsche has mastered doing this.
Have you seen a car in the metal yet though and not just basing your views on photo's? I'm guessing that once you see a physical car you'll change your view

Why is a family likeness (or "corporate identity" as business cunsultants would call it) such a bad thing?
If you had two sons, but just a few years apart in age, would you want them to look completely different to each other?
(OK, if the older one looked like Frankenstein's monster you would ).
