I love the result, but I would never have had the courage to put in all this effort for a relatively minor change.
Wouldn't this have been a chance to order a Euro-bumper, so you could get rid of the bumperettes?

Although I don't post much, that doesn't mean I don't miss you folks. I try to pop in every now and then.
Porker, I did consider getting the Euro bumperettes but it would have looked a bit odd with the smaller license plate and nothing on either side I thought. I'm happy with the end results as you all can see.
Thats a great way to refresh the image of your car. do you think a mod like this would have any impact on the resale value of the car? either positive or negative?
Great pictures as always, even repair shots are well done

Thanks..but I still don't plan to come back too often. I find this new interface still too confusing. It took me 5 minutes to figure out where the "new thread" button!
The more you use it, the easier it gets.

Hey Jason,
Very nice and informative thread, and I got to say, your pictures, even those of the most trivial subjects, seem te be always of high quality... makes me realize I got a lot to learn still!
Nice to be hearing from you every now and then on the forum, your presence is dearly missed!

Thanks for taking the effort Jason! GREAT Documentation!
I was already long interested to see what is needed to do to change those ugly rear lights to the splendid new ones!
But I'm kind of shocked to read that next to bumper and lights you also need to change the control unit. This is enormous!
Thanks mate - and this was the right decision to do. The car looks amazing this color is the best to go for a sporty looking Turbo. And with the new rear the car looks 1 Million times better!
Thank you everyone! It feels good to be back although I'm still unsure about actually coming back because honestly the site is a bit slow for me even using Google Chrome. I find this site a bit confusing which is why I left in the first place. I know I should give it another try and maybe I will because having you folks around is what makes it all worthwhile!
Here's another picture of the Cobalt twins together to show the differences between our taillights. Old vs new. I've already asked if he plans to make th upgrade and no, he doesn't.

Looks gorgeous The 2nd generation tail lights really do look sharper and more up to date - and the side by side comparison really brings out the difference I especially love how they look at night.
Although it was quite an involved job to undertake, since I assume you plan to keep the 997.1 TT, I think you made a good move doing the upgrade `
