    Re: SLS vs 991 Choice

    Turbocharger:
    RC:

Sherif, stupid question: what about the limited edition 997 GT2 RS ? In my opinion the best offer in the sports car world right now.

I think he wants a GT. GT2 is probably far from a comfy DD. Not to mention it's stripped of every creature comfort.

    Re: SLS vs 991 Choice

The SLS is for sure the much more special car right now. I was sitting in it and had time to take a deep look inside. The car is superb from what Ive seen. Very outstanding versus a Porsche which you can find on every corner.

I would go for it (unfortunately its out of my price range). And.... until the 991 Turbo comes couple of years will pass by. Until then you can reconsider what to do next.

    Re: SLS vs 991 Choice

i totally agree that gt2rs is a good offer from porsche. however, i want a car that can be used on a daily basis to replace my turbo.

gt2rs is too hardcore for my needs. furthermore, i am not really that much into manual cars and my gt2 is covering my needs for a 'sports car'

as for import taxes, it's based on engine cc not make.

Why don't you wait for the new BMW 6 series to be introduced soon, surely not hardcore and  more practical for daily driving than the SLS. I find the SLS too flashy for daily driving outside the USA, unless you live in Monte Carlo or something very similar.

I don't think the 6 series will have that special something the sls has, the sls could be used daily and will definitely become a classic in the long run.

Engineering-wise it can be used daily but it is a flashy car drawing too much attention for daily use IMO unless you live in a luxury environment that only certain spots offer outside USA. IMO, the SLS wouldn't fit just anywhere as a DD car.

That makes the GT2RS with only 3.6L an attractive option (I know it's not what you want/need).  But there can't be a more interesting car with a displacement that small, right?Smiley

    Re: SLS vs 991 Choice

i think i have made up my mind nd will go with an sls in white with red interior.

standard chassis, no ceramics and no sports seats.

carbon interior option and 5 double spoke rims.

i hve inquired with mercedes egypt and they are not giving any discounts. delivery is said to be around 6 months at the least.

merceds cannot fill orders worldwide.....seems they are having a hit with this car.

Thats good news, i hope you enjoy the car a lot. Another great white car. Now the long waiting period starts.

IMHO waiting period is little bit too long. For my market up to 4 months max.

My advice is any silver instead of white. Avoid B&O sound system-not worth the money.

    Re: SLS vs 991 Choice

kreso, thanks, i was surely going to get the b&o....but now that you made me think of it it's probably not worth it as th engine noise will interfere anyway.

silver surely is a 'classic' colour for this car. however, white works better in my climate and is timeless as well.

i am sure most sls will be delivered in silver.
