You think there will be just this one interior design/color combo Smiley

I haven't a clue regarding the interior colour combos which will be available, but I do know that there is no history of the GT models being offered with a large range of individual or Exclusive (with a big "E") options.

OK, then I am a bit relieved Smiley As long as black/black is avaialble I am fine.

Apparently there is an all black GT3RS Gen. II. Which shows that everything is possible, as long you have the right access. Still find it sad that Porsche makes such a fuzz about colour combos

I couldn't care less also. IMO all this special option stuff with colours, leather, materials, stitching and all that blabla is getting ridiculous lately. I much prefer cars with a rather complete standard configuration. Smiley

You are correct! You pay a lot for those, after a while you don't even notice the difference and on re-sale they go in the price for nothing.

I with you P-J. The million dollar question is: "will they be allowed to encompass that spirit or will they be trampled by into submission by the VAG management."

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

The strengthening of the Porsche spirit will bring more money to VW.

It's the only brand in Germany that can rival the allure of the Italian brands.

Mercedes and Audi command a lot of respect for many reasons but you cannot mix 1.2lt superminis and Taxis with supercars if you want to seriously rival names like Ferrari, for example.

Spyderidol, I hope for rational decisions rather than the family stuff and corporate policies. And rational decisions require a thoroughful observation of what the market requires. And that's very easy to do: they just should read Rennteam on a daily basis - as a result they will make the right decisions and save millions of  Euros for market research studies SmileySmiley

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

    http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Porsche-911-GT2-RS-2010-spied-at-the-Ring/

This is the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the most powerful 911 yet, with close to 600bhp being produced by its rear-mounted engine.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS? So will there be a ‘regular’ Porsche 911 GT2 to go alongside this RS version too?

Nope, there’s only this one mad version – despite Porsche’s penchant for producing endless variants of the 911 – and Stuttgart is using all its know-how to make this the fastest 911 yet. The RS tag means this GT2 is likely to be completely and utterly bonkers.

Look closely at CAR's new spy pictures and you’ll spot the subtle front wheelarch extensions lifted from the GT3 RS that allow for a wider front track. Other GT3 RS adoptions are thought to include fabric interior door handles, a titanium exhaust and a full roll cage, while Porsche’s Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM) and adjustable suspension should be standard.

Also lifted from the GT3 RS (and 'boggo' GT3) are the centre-lock alloys, the air vent ahead of the bonnet, and the stripped-out interior. Ceramic brakes keep the kerbweight down too, as does the rear-drive chassis – there’s no fancy four-wheel drive system here.

Options like a lithium-ion battery help shave a further 10kg. The latest news out of Stuttgart is that the new 911 GT2 RS will weigh 90kg less than it predecessor, thanks in part to carbonfibre air intakes and vents, and other GT3 RS diet secrets.

And just how much power do those two rear wheels have to deal with?

We hear 600PS, so that’s 592bhp from the direct-injection, twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat six. And expect near to 600lb ft of lugging torque as well. Combine that grunt with a launch control system and the new 911 GT2 should hit 62mph in under 3.5 seconds, and the torque figure should provide scary mid-range acceleration.

Of course, a six-speed manual is the only gearbox option and Cup tyres will mean it’s a handful in the wet. But on a dry track it should be epic – a Nurburgring time of 7min 22sec has been mooted, meaning it’s quicker than that pesky Nissan GT-R.

Other tweaks and changes over the first-gen 997 GT2 include the latest LED rear lights and a revised interior.

The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS was revealed to a select group of VIPs and dealers this past weekend, and will be go on sale in summer 2010. As for price, we expect it to be north of £150k. Only the rich (and raving mad thrill seekers) need apply.

    Slow In, Fast Out

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

Getting back on weight : The lightest version means nothing at all, like a GT3 RS, so compared to the first GT2 :

    - 10 kgs at least for the interior (simplified doors, no leather on the dash (it was standard on the GT2 ?), no cupholder with a piece of carbone fibre, simple fabric door handles, no automatic headlight and rear view mirrors (also standard on the GT2 ?))

    - 4 kgs for the plastic rear window

    - 12 kg centerlock

    - 10 kg carrera GT seats

    - 10 kg no hifi nor PCM

    - 12 kg no AC

    - 10 kg for the carbon hood and the new wings (if you look closely to the front wings they are special, at least on the mule, the extensions are completely integrated, not added like on a GT3 RS, so we could hope for aluminium or carbon fibre)

    - 4 kg for the single mass flywheel

    - 20 kgs for the 64 litres tank

    - Lithium-ion battery : - 11 kgs

We are at least at 93 kgs.

There are also new features like PADM, the increase of displacement (and perhaps double variocam like the GT3), the variable aerodynamic ... but 90 kgs is absolutely realistic !

My OPC contacted me about it yesterday - the dealer principal went to the Leipzig event last weekend.  They don't know how many they'll get yet.  Price will be c.£200kSmiley

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

Coupaps,  could you please explain how you calculate when you arrive at -20 kg for the 64 litres fuel tank?

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

GT2Driver, very simple, if we not that fuel has less density than water (so 1litre doesn't weight 1 kilos), we could believe that 26 litres less could equal to 20 kgs at least.

    Sorry for my poor english.

Marcus - there were approx 66 GT2s 2008/9 RHD for the UK market so I guess 20 RSs is not that small a number Smiley

Agreed, compared to 66 regular GT2 in a period of 12-18 months the number of 20 does not appear too small any longer Smiley I tried to find the total production number of the GT2 Mk1 recently - but failed Smiley I also wanted to compare the GT2 RS production volume with the number GT2 Mk1 sold.

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

Just checked, it was 34 i 2008 and  28 in 2009 PCM 3 So 62 total of the UK C16 model GT2s - I guess that classifies them as rare with the more desirable PCM3 model being almost as rare as the incoming GT2RS

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

I just saw some pictures of the GT2RS that was shown for a brief moment at the presentation of the Cayenne at Leipzig  and the interior has a lot more red than I thought, the seats (except the laterals) are bright red for example, and there are more touches to the interior like a console, etc.
