Concerning GT2 RS... Just speechless. I was also very sceptical after the VW takeover, but these past months are dreams come true
Considering the lead-times involved in developing cars and putting them into production, this model cannot just be the result of a rethink of company philosophy since VW took control of Porsche.
My thoughts as well. However, they only thing that gave me pause was Porsche indicated that they had developed the 918 within a five month period. Or did I misunderstand?
A show car be built in five months, Nick, but a show car is not fully developed, tested, and ready for production start-up.
I remember seeing a vid about the original Boxster show car exhibited at the Detroit Motor Show in the early '90s stating that it had been built in 6 months. The production car was introduced a couple of years later and had undergone some minor changes.
You wouldn't even want to own any car which someone had developed in just five months!
Just think back to the birth of the Carrera GT, and the gestation period which lapsed between the first news of the car in the press and the delivery of the first cars to a customers.
In your defence though (hey, that's a new one for me! ), I wouldn't rule out the possibility that someone made a statement which you were meant to misunderstand.
