Rumoured price is 199.500 plus VAT.

    Thanks, looks awesome! Smiley

How does that rumored price compare to the outgoing GT2?

Based on my memory, the Mk1 version was about 20% cheaper (200 vs 160) Smiley

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

IMO, without a modern  DFI and PDK it won't be a technology tour de force to rival 458 italia, SLS etc.

It will be just another ultra fast car for the track specialists.

I'll be very disappointed if Porsche stick to the stone age with the Metzger engine and a 6- speed manual. The game has moved on by competitors.

Believe me, if this car has indeed 600hp (or even more) it will kill everything out there including the 458 Scuderia and the new McLaren. Just look at the improved lap times from GT3 to GT3 RS this major jump in terms of performance was achieved with only a minor hp upgrade (major improvements beeing shorter gearing, wider front tires, new tire mix, new suspension setup). If you take these mods and then add another 70, 80 or 90hp (!) (compared to GT2 Mk2) the result will be mind blowing SmileySmileySmiley Of course, also adding PDK would bring another significant performance increase. But Porsche needs some headroom for the next generations of the 911 Smiley

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

Some rumours spread on the net indicate a 0-200 of slightly below 10s and a 0-300 of about 25s. Should be correct IF the car indeed had 620hp (which I still doubt very, very much). With the shorter gearing (top speed unchanged compared to GT2 Mk1) the above acceleration numbers could be correct Smiley

Many thanks for first pics and info

Those intercooler air intakes look interesting, the intercooling was a bit of a problem for getting more power, these look like a functional solution for greater volume of air flow across the intercoolers = 620 reliable hp.......

90kg saving is very impressive, can't wait for final details....

What are people's thoughts on that rear wing, is it the same as the regular GT2

So they will be quoting 1350kg presumably ?

    Weight savings :

    New centrelock wheels save ~12kg

there was talk of a carbon roof skin ~6kg

    carbon doors and hood ~15kg

    Carrera GT seats ~10kg

    No PCM 3 ~10kg

    Even less sound deadening ~10kg

    add in roll cage +15kg

    Rudimentary door trims ~6kg

Plexiglass rear and side glass ~6kg

    Single mass flywheel ~4kg

That is 64kg net saving..... now I am struggling Smiley

Anyone feel free to correct or add to the above guesstimates

The gap might be closed by the delete air conditioning Smiley I think PCM and air conditioning are key options. That might then imply a net weight reduction of about 40kg - not bad though Smiley

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

I can confirm the number that Stefan posted.

Price will be huge,  specially with some options.

    Interior is a la 997.2 GT3RS...

Weight is without any option. So, NO Navi or any sound system for example.

Also... According to my info 997.2 GT3RS is the sportscar for KENNER. Or for very, very skilled sportscar driver.

If you check out the GT3RS there are not that many options available. Might well be that the GT2 just needs some 10k in options to be a perfect allrounder: PCM, sound, phone and some small items. Not much more Smiley

Is the GT3RS approved for winter tyres? Interesting to find that it is more comfortable than the basic GT3Smiley.

    Re: 997 GT2 RS

I still wonder: what happened at Porsche to make them change their product strategy that significantly? A car like the RS (if the 620hp figure should indeed be correct) would have been IMPOSSIBLE some 2-3 years ago Smiley
