Leblanc:Regarding the reliability for now Its only speculation.Doesn´t prove anything.
So what would your reasoning be (if you discount reliability) for Porsche using the older, much more expensive engine ?
For instance, the liklihood that it will only have a short model life (= limited production numbers to amortize development and tooling costs) and will use the Getrag manual transmission used in all GT models up till now (which does not fit DFI engines)?

You are probably right that this RS model (or whatever they call it) needs to have the beefy gearbox and for Preuninger's team to hone it into a Nissan GTR beater was relatively simple compared to having to fit the Dfi engine and PDK into the RWD chassis with all the associated development costs....... The extra costs of the Mezger and Getrag will be easily covered by the expected price tag !
I guess the next model GT2 will have the Dfi unit and the greater production run will justify the development costs.....

True.I couldn't say better
And Porsche never took that engine up to the limit. It wiil be the farewell to the race proven engine, the last breath.

Guys a well informed friend tell me this thing:
production limited to 300 cars for all world
600 HP
prices in this month
Hope is is right...
Sounds a bit too much like the old RS rumour...
Would be nice, but I doubt Porsche will offer that much.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

I'm struggling with the 600-620 numbers...... Main problem is which cats do they use, to get these numbers needs proper high flowing motorsport cats, Porsche have never put these in a production turbo car before AFAIK without the cats there is just too much back pressure to produce these numbers in a "Porsche like" way...
My guess is 550-570PS and a nice fat 720NM torque curve

I stand corrected. I just heard it will have 620hp, cost around 220k and will be limited to 300 cars worldwide. Press embargo ends May, 14th, there will also be a web special. Rumoured time at Nurburgring is 7.22.
I don't think these rumours make any sense: if they offered a car like this they would block all upside (performance wise) for future models. When would they be in a position to offer 620hp again with the new DFI engine, PDK etc.? Does not make any sense. And the price would be far too low for 620hp as well Of course, I would love to see a 620hp monster for such a bargain price

True but if they call it Gt2 RS,it must be "special"; and with this specs, if real,is really SPECIAL!!!
But do we not think the RS moniker means an overall driving experience biased towards fast and entertaining track performance. RS have usually meant lighter weight and honed chassis rather than big power hike.
570PS/720NM in the GT2 will be very fast.....
Just to note the 530PS GT2 all had a minimum of 540PS, this came from Manthey and RS Tuning based on the engines they have dynoed (mine had 544PS engine dyno as standard) so if Porsche quote 570PS it will be a very stout 570PS....

The question is not how it will look (looks like a GT2 ) but whether the FL/RS will indeed have more than 600hp... This would be the first time that Porsche exceeded the hp expectations BY FAR. Unfortunately, that's why I don't think the car will have more than 560-580hp (which would be more than enough still ).
Unfortunately, I could not reach my dealer via phone... He is in Leipzig (that's where the above picture was shot yesterday)
Rossi:
Rumoured price is 199.500 plus VAT.
Thanks, looks awesome!
How does that rumored price compare to the outgoing GT2?
987 Boxster S, Arctic Silver with 'Martini Racing' Livery, H&R Monotube Coil-Overs, H&R Anti Roll Bars, Strut Brace, FVD ECU, BMC Air Filter, Sachs Racing Clutch, Single-Mass Flywheel, Recaro Racing Shells, PSE.
997 Carrera 4S, Guards Red, Bilstein PSS10 Damptronic, H&R Anti Roll Bars, IPD Plenum, Dension Gateway 500, PSE.
Well, I can imagine, IF they build only 300 of them, AND there will be something completely revolutionary in the 991 power/drivetrain wise, that it would not bother them to actually put 600 hp in it.
The Wiedeking Porsche has always been disappointing in pure HP numbers, they were always lower than anticipated.
However, we should not forget that the modern Piech Porsche is the company that introduced the 918 spyder; strong messages about Porsche wanting to be at the top of the foodchain again.
So, in the light of the past ten years, it would be highly unlikely that this car would actually have >600 hp, however, in the new comapny, I guess everything is possible. I'll sit back and wait. The future might be bright!
